If at any point you have any qualms about buying a car, walk away.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts so far.

Will ring them tomorrow and see if I can get my deposit back.
Annoyed as this morning I cancelled the insurance on the old ST and started with the new and cost me £44 which I can't see me getting back - plus I will have to spend another £25 in admin fees when I get another car

C'est la vie

Walk in to the showroom with the words "I don't have to have it" in your mind.
Makes walking away a whole lot easier

Isn't there a cooling off period for the likes of car insurance? As you say, you'll have another £25 admin fee, but should at least get the £44 back.

I echo all the same sentiment above....

I'm from Yorkshire. If you agree price on something, you pay the price and get what you agreed. If the item you're buying has changed, especially entirely in their favour, then its just not the deal anymore.

I don't know much about Fords these days, but I suspect the ST is quite a hoot, and also that there are probably quite a few kicking around to choose from with a tiny bit of patience.

A lesson I have learned, and seemingly so have you now, is that just because its a dealer, you still need to double and triple check everything. With the best will in the world, they can **** something up, and if you're not on the ball, it ends up in their favour no doubt.

So, consider it a lesson in what to look out for on the next one, and go find a better one

Again - thanks everyone.

Agree with all the comments and will hopefully get another one soon.
Got rid of the missus car on Sunday so a little bit of urgency to replace.....

So... I'm the only one who voted yes! Maybe I should have voted no as I wouldn't buy a Ford...

I guess my thoughts are that the warranties aren't always as good as they sound. You also have the Sale of Goods act to fall back on too in the shorter term. It would also depend on if they would reduce the price to take into account the lack of warranty.

I do agree with the other points though, it's a popular enough car that you'll probable find (maybe already found) something better.

My thoughts are if it went well over the mileage for the last service what else did the previous owner do/not do......
