Default coolant hose adapter

Before I stopped driving my car, I installed a coolant hose adapter with a threaded hole for a coolant temp sensor. This coolant temp sensor is for the electric fan that was installed by the previous owner because the electric fan doesn't turn on/off automatically when the temp gets high. Anyways the coolant hose adapter that I originally is the perfect overall length but I don't like how it just had a thread hole (which was causing my coolant to leak) instead of a threaded bung. So I ended up buying a different adapter that has a threaded bung but the overall length is much longer and I have a feeling this will not fit.

Here is a picture of the two hose adapters. The black one is the original one I bought and used. The silver one is the new one but it's overall length might not work?

How many o-rings are suppose to be on the end of this radiator drain plug?
