Lashing rain, stones, insects and just dirty air constantly wearing away at the coating on the leading edge and then corrosion takes a foothold....

May sound silly but is there not an uprated version available? Even after market? Seems a big job to do to have it happen again potentially in 4 years.

Default Rear door trims

Has anybody spoken to any of the wrap companies, could you clean them up and then wrap in piano black wrap. Just a thought?
Was think of that option for mine, which are just the same.

Best regards
Seamaster

To be honest, I just "colour them in" with a permanent black marker pen. It's only the very edge on mine at the moment, so not too bad. I'm guessing a wrap wouldn't stay on for long if it was still corroding underneath. You'd need to remove the loose corrosion first and paint with some sort of aluminium etch primer stuff before wrapping I think.

I had the same problem on my Passat - I just rubbed down the leading edge with wet and dry and flushed with IPA alcohol spray and then masked with tape tucked behind and over the rubber and then painted a line down the edge and behind it between the rubber and metal with one of those tiny pots of humbrol airfix paint and a small artist brush. The paint is satin black and a good match. I still have it somewhere just need to get some new art brushes and paint the D3's.
