VCDS will tell you all you need to know in regards to the status of the door handle, you can also do test on button and see if it responds in measuring blocks

Mine is intermittent. Specifically when wet. It can actually blow bubbles or squirt bits of water.
I think a fix could be to inject very thin silicon caulking after drying it out thoroughly with maybe a syringe. It would set so you don't get oil on your finger every time you press the button but also will stay flexible enough to be able to click the switch. However i would really really like to see someone taking a door lever apart to see what switch is used and how the button cover looks like from the inside to see if a method of sealing can be applied in a more technical manner.

someone must have a duff handle if they have changed one
come on all you guys have a look around
please dont tell me you have thrown them away

also...
i noticed the button on my drivers door (which has failed) has sunk down a touch
while the other 3 stand flush or even proud a tad they click nicely too
so maybe the failed buttons collapse inside

They are not user serviceable, trust me, if it could be done I would have done it .

Ok let me explain clearly.

Said handles were removed, inspected for possible repair, conlusion was they not repairable, they were then transferred to the bin, which was collected by Waveney council.

Once collected I can only guess that they ended up in the landfill which they use.

I don't know the location of said landfill but I'm sure if you contact them directly they will be glad to tell you where it is.

I've had a word with East Suffolk disposal services. They are very polite but a bit dim. It took a while for them to get their heads round my simple request. Anyway after what sounded suspiciously like ill suppressed laughter they told me that they were happy for me to look for the said door handles, but first I need to obtain a doctors note testifying that I represent no risk to the public in general and their workers in particular. I'll let you know how that goes.
Anyone got a metal detector I can borrow?
