I will get it fitted tomorrow after the aircon is charged up as if there is any leaks I can get to them with the bumper off. I have just remembered that the chrome trim around my grill is broken and its fitted from behind the bumper so that needs replacing also before fitting...anybody know where I can source the trim or even a complete grill that's broken as long as the chrome is good. A couple of months ago I had a look around but the S8 has a unique grill and I am not sure if the standard A8 has the same size grill.

Well done on the repair, glad the change out worked out for you.

The single frame grills are interchangeable but obviously the S8 grill is better looking.

Roberto had one new for sale not sure if he has it anymore.

Failing that a new one can be had for just over 300 new from Audi with a bit of discount.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping that all the chrome frames were the same size so I can wait for a broken grill from A8 parts.
I have never seen chrome falling off the plastic frame in such a bad way before, looks like it hasn't stuck to the plastic.

Cheers. My wife has said that I have spent too much money on the repairs until I pointed out that The Audi dealer wanted more than the cost of the replacement engine, parts and oil just to take the engine out so I am happy and I think she is.

Very well done from me too, epic task to take on that, really glad it worked out in the end

I have the grill you speak of Del, couldn't resist any longer

I have however got my original grill and have sent a PM, it may be worth us making contact

A top thread this. You have proper mechanical courage and a nifty writing style. So happy at your well earned outcome.
You've suffered a very complex car from the outside, now you can start to enjoy that brilliant car, from the inside. Well done

Kind words sir thankyou. just replaced the wheel bearing on the front today and a new set of brakes all round as I want it to be perfect and hopefully not need anything for a few months.
