Fair enough, so are you going to test drive the Brera then? I'd say that or the VW Scirocco with the GTI 2.0 T FSI engine with DSG maybe?

"and **** herself". You know what, I hadn't thought of that. Another reason why a re-badged V10 S6 makes sooo much sense. Unless I'm misunderstanding of course, if so then Yes, it would defiantly be an error.
This is an balanced reply from one Librian to another

An Alfa? Seriously?

They're some of the most gorgeous cars on the road.. But longer term build quality? They make the D3 of Doom look uber-reliable (nearly 3 months without a major fault).

Now narrowed down to 2. Anna got to sit in an ST3 yesterday and was 'quite' taken with it. I continued to look non plussed as the salesman spouted on about how good it was.

We are off in a few minutes to look at a Scirroco (my favourite), hope she will see the light, go for the GT or R and then it's off to AVP when she isn't looking for a remap!!!! Muhahahahahahaha

Well we went to see it and she is quite taken. Likes the look and the interior. The downside? 5 month waiting list! Obviously VW don't want to sell cars. I doubt she'll want to wait so having a look and nearly new. I think the ST3 may sneak in here.......

The ST is a fun car, but after the novelty wears off and the exhaust manifold/turbo unit has come off for the second time (and it will buddy) you'll be hankering after that 'rocco!! Get a nearly new Scirocco and a remap. Great car and superb value when you consider the Golf GTi costs. Scirocco has different rear suspension to the mk5 GTi and drives great!
The Focus is a great giggle and sounds lovely so lets be honest, you won't be disappointed with either car but I reckon for long term enjoyment and re-sale the Scirocco is the best choice.

I wish I had this decision to make!!

I know this is a little facetious, but how about an '8' based kit car, are there any?
after all you have a donor vehicle don't you?
That'd be scary

Default Nooo..not an Alfa

Just my tuppence:

I've had 3, all GTVs though: a 2.0 Twin Spark, a 3.0 GTV6 and a 2.0 V6 Turbo (special import from Italy with open pipes -awesome sound).
They are awesome driver's cars, but made of tofee and don't hack high mileages or abuse (except the 164, which in 3.0 does clock up a few zeros).
Every one of them had electrical problems and my mate's brand new GTD blew up at 60K!
The Brera doesn't handle well enough (front end heavy), but looks incredible.
If I liked garages, I'd buy another Alfa!!
Good luck with whatever you pick...

my 156 was nothing but entertaining. Its only real fault being a sunroof that leaked. Easily solved by not buying one with sunroof! The electricals and mechanicals were good as gold, it was 130k when i got rid and she's still going now. Still miss the high reving fun! wouldn't swap back though...the audi will do for me for now
