Default Got me a new S8

Done the deal. Now all I have to do is get myself 120 miles to collect it. Upside: 120 (plus?) miles to get it back home.
Its a D3. Black with a black & white interior. Sad but it's the interior that did it for me. Turned loads of of others down cos they didn't look like a Liquorish Allsort inside. Can't wait. Perhaps I can swing it tomorrow.
Will post picts as soon as I can take them.
This means my 2002 02 plate S8 is now on the market. She has a lush Ming Blue exterior & grey interior. An untouched and utterly standard example, with bi-xenons, Bose + SD Card player, heated front screen (wait till the winter and this is just amazing). Those who know me and my 8 will attest that I don't clean her. I think I do, but by the standards of everyone else I meet in the club, I clearly don't. She's done 140k and runs as sweet as a ... Liquorish Allsort.
Ben at AVP can tell you more about her mechanicals than I can. I hope he doesn't mind me suggesting anyone interested call him. I've had her 18 months, full Audi history then Ben. Only light is occasional air bag, just after dropping a front seat passenger off. Anyway. I'll work up an ad, bung it on AutoTrader and post a link. Meanwhile feel free to give me a call.
Oh yes, mustnt forget. very keenly priced at only £6,500. Can't be bad for an original example with squirt (sport) mode and all her books and keys

Sorry Amar, Can't. I'm still having a love affair with the shape of the stock pipes from the back. As a compromise I could play a recording of a Euro Fighter through the stereo.
What a horrible day to collect a car. Seriously bad spay on the M40/M42. Couldn't see a thing. Not that I was looking out the windows that much. I finally figured how to switch the nav off when I was about half a mile from home. Dur
These are a very different beast to our D2's. I'm going to miss mine. The D3 is fast, but floor it and it feels like someone's fitted a bl00dy big magnet that pulls you irresistibly to the horizon. Its quieter, less involving and highlights how much the D2's are more raw and immediate.
There's a lot of toys though. The MMI even has its own big fat 300 page handbook. So now I can switch off and on the rear interior lighting, set their climate and loads of other insane stuff. It'll keep me off the streets for months.
I am going to miss that D2. You'll laugh but its my favourite motor since I had a 2 door Cortina 2.0 GT in white with a black vinyl roof. That car fitted me, I understood what it was doing and could get it to go. The D2 is the first since to better that And I still love how it looks. And sounds. And goes

Keep them both Nick. If you can afford a D3 S8 then the D2 can be mounted in your lounge to watch TV from!

LOL Mike
The thought of keeping had passed through my mind (No, not keeping it in the lounge. It won't fit through the french windows) But the management here at Maison Moi is already giving me sideways looks and muttering things about pensions and gone.
Now I've got to find somewhere to drive this weekend. Assuming I can remember how to work it. Need to get it into Bens for a health check too
