Strut bracket, leave off?
Hello everyone, hope you are all keeping well.
Just a quick one. After completing my rear suspension refurb I have now decided to move on to the front. Time on my hands and all that. I have the strut off and my Bentley manual says to "do not replace" the aluminium bracket / brace in the picture below. What do you reckon. Leave it off or put it back? Thanks all and please, keep safe. Frank

I think it was fitted to the FL in an attempt to stop the cars tearing the front strut tower apart, but it doesn't work. I've had one FL which tore the weld, and another which tore the bracket for the brace off the chassis leg, although TBF neither were welded properly.
Personally I always put it back on because it adds strength / stiffness to the body which is a good thing for handling. |

Thanks for that MJ. When I did the front control arms 2 years ago I did put them back, mainly because I wanted to keep the car as near standard as possible. I'll put them back on.
Thanks for the reply
