Default High level centre brake light bulb replacement

My car was at the garage having some work done today, and whilst they were driving it I noticed that 2 of the bulbs in the high level brake light have failed. I had a quick look but cannot immediately see how to remove the light to replace the bulbs.

So todays question, how do you remove the unit to change the bulbs and what type of bulb is needed for replacement.

Bulbs are - 4 No. of
part No. N 017 753 5
W5W-12V5W
and are £1.83 each

It looks like the housing needs to come off (screw as shown) and then youn can access the bulb holder. You may need to unscrew the housing from under the parcel shelf in the boot

Thanks, I think your right. I did look in the boot, but perhaps the screw is located in hole rather than the on the surface. At least I now know where to look, now to get some W5W bulbs and change them all.

I now have the new bulbs, and went to have a go this evening. There are 2 holes beneath the light when looking in through the boot, but they don't appear to have screws in. They are quiet deep, so I inserted a screwdriver and cannot feel a screw head in there to undo.

Dezzy, do you recall how the cover comes off on the rear shelf.

edit. think I answered my own question.

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...rakelight.html

in the US its called a Hat shelf.

And I have now changed the bulbs, took just a few minutes once I knew how to take it apart.

Is it the same if you have a rear blind?

Yes, because I have the rear blind. it just pulls forward still but because of the rear blind as you pull it forwards you lift slightly to get over the blind.
