Personally speaking, I'm definitely in the camp of as few owners as possible. That comes a close second after mileage, and is far more important than age. Multiple owners makes it far less likely that the car has been consistently looked after well, in my opinion.

I've never bought a car with more than one previous owner, though I'd probably consider one with two or three owners, but nothing more than that.

I feel for you mate, I really do.

I hate buying and selling cars. Selling for the same reasons what you, buying because I don't trust 98.64% of people

I was going to finally purchase D4 S8 in January, but new business is more important at the minute and I'm glad I don't have to go through all this drama yet.
Buying will be equally bad and hand on my heart if I won't like the buyer of my 8 I won't sell it. So many hours spent on her, amount of money just on bits, resprays, this, that, S8 bits, bloody an@l maintenance is at least from quick calculation just over 9k excluding any servicing and running cost and any repairs such as chain tensioners, belts, arms. Not only you lose that investment instantly but also have people on your driveway huffing and puffing and moaning and looking for little things. Not looking forward to it at all. And knowing that some **** will trash it makes me a bit angry. Some people get attached to cars some not, for me is the good time spent with the car and lots of my heart and hard work in it.

The car looks great mate and boys I think gave you all the possible advice you can get. All I can say is good luck and be patient

I for one don't care much for number of owners or mileage, I buy on condition, service history and value for money. I do take it into account that it will be harder to sell and get less money with more owners, higher mileage when the time comes to sell so it needs to be cheaper when buying but it is not much of and issue if you plan on keeping it for long time.

For most people number of owners and mileage will play big part of decision if they are not much car/mechanically minded and cannot judge condition much apart from looks they have to resort what's on paper because while not exact science but there are higher odds of being better condition with less owners, less mileage.

Not by me but by some yes, what if say 1 or 3 of the owners had track day'd it?

I personally wouldn't discard any car until looking at it, and even then it's a gamble.

exactly, you have to choose carefully, check there are no moans or groans, under carriage must be checked for wear and just hope it's not been ragged by too many previous owners.

if only it was that easy
at least with 4 rings (audi ones) you stand a good chance
but as soon as you add 1 ring (not audi) then 2 or even 3 rings (still not audi)
it all goes wrong the reliability factor goes out the window
the nagging starts
then the money drain (not oil)
shoes handbags kitchens clothes decorating holidays
oh woe is me

Oh Bugger,
I know, I should'nt have said that.
SWMBO caught me in the eye with her elbow during the night. I now have a rather painful left eye, slightly bloodshot and bruising starting to appear. Not quite a black eye.
Gwen is saying that she knows nothing about it

I will have to sleep with my eyes open for a few weeks.
