Default Reg Plate S8 JME

Hi guys,

I bought a Toyota with individual reg plate S8 JME and thought maybe a a8/s8 owner would like it. £500 + DVLA fee.

The pricing is a bit optimistic unless you find somebody for who JME means something. Generic number plates that start with A8/S8 are not worth much more than transfer fees.

That's exactly the Jamie I was thinking about when I saw the thread title, and it's a quiet popular name as well so if you don't have money in it or are not strapped for cash than £500 is a good price.

If there was A8 MAR or S8 MAR plate I would pay £500 easy so why Jamie out there wouldn't pay it

Worth a punt on ebay with it on retention already (so no more fees to pay to put it on a car) with a sensible reserve. They often sell for less than £200 - they often get re-listed for months with no takers at £250+

If you get 2 Jamie's bidding it could go higher, if 2 Jamies own S8s and both want it....

I'm on the look out for a cheapie S8 plate - don't care what letters after it, but I'm definitely in the under £200 camp with fees paid.

As ever it's very difficult to price these. Really generic S8 plates are usually priced around £150.

If the letters are reasonably plausible as matching someone's initials then maybe £200-£250 (I think mine was about £200).

After that it depends if there is some additional "meaning" enlarging the market beyond individual S8 owners, of which there are really not a lot. I've seen S8 plates on other types of car, I think there's one around here on a Volvo for example. Interpreting the 8 as a B for example can add meaning, though I'm not sure that does anything here.

My first port of call (and where I bought both my personalised plates) is Regtransfers ( https://www.regtransfers.co.uk/ ) where I note they seem to have this "on their books", though I'm not sure what that means exactly.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Good point Homer, unlikely to get under £200 including all the extras.

I really ought to have remembered that, it's not long since I shopped there!

I did rather overlook those two little words:
