Sincerest condolences to his family and friends. It’s been a truly awful year for so many people.

A number of people have been asking why.
Lyn has asked me to let you know that Mark suffered from a rare form of abdominal cancer that spread very quickly to other organs before the medics could counteract it.
With regards to the funeral, unfortunately due to the current situation numbers of attendees in the service will be limited and will be kept to mainly family. The family have requested that I attend and I will be doing this.
Stephen (tintin) will be along shortly to explain what we hope to do on the day.
Please stay safe.

Thank you Ray for these updates, I'm sure they're not easy to administer on top of everything else, but are very much appreciated.

In normal times, I'm sure many of us would have liked to be present to pay our respects, but these are different times, and I can only try and image the nightmare that is trying to host a funeral with limited attendance.

Please convey our deepest Sympathies to Lyn and family on behalf of the whole a8parts team.

I recently lost a close Aunt. We couldn't attend the funeral as 30 people were easily made up by her children, grand children and other closer friends who she would have wanted there. I did however go to the house as the procession arrived, some parked outside the funeral home as the procession started and just lined the road, keeping apart of course.

The funeral itself at the crematorium was live streamed by the funeral directors. We were all given a link with a username and password to view it. This seems to be the way things are done these days.

That's broadly similar to the thinking for Mark's service next week, which is still being worked out, so watch this space for more details which I'll share when available.

Such sad news, and can totally relate to the devastation that cancer can cause.

Sending my best wishes to all those affected

Most unfortunate to read that Mark has sadly passed away. My condolences to Lyn and all his friends on the forum. Sadly I never had the opportunity to meet Mark in person, but his personality and love for life shined through his posts. A true gentleman. He will be missed.

Although only family and close friends will be allowed into the service, I expect there to be live streaming of the funeral - details still tbc - for those who would want to be part of this, and Ray (tc4332) will be there in person as a close family friend, and will also represent us at this service.

Aside from that, Lyn has confirmed that she would like any of Mark's A8 club friends who can make it in person to be present outside the crematorium, with their '8s, as that's what she feels he would have wanted. Jim (The Laird) and I will be there, along with Ray, so if anyone else feels able to make it to Bolton next Thursday at 3pm, then please let me know & I'll provide more details of how this aspect of the day will work.

More details will follow on the streaming of this when available.

Why do we need to be there at mid-day? The funeral (according to Ray) is at 3pm. I’m happy to be there for whatever time required, but I’m a bit confused (not that that’s difficult to achieve! ).
