I'm tentatively booked in for next Saturday but I'm flexible if someone wants to make a booking for that day.

(I know that it should ideally be a 3 instead of a 2 but give me some artistic license here...)

I think we should rename MJ's home county: D2VON

Only one pic today cos I forgot.

Mostly just putting things back together though. All the electrics are back in and all the ECUs are happy. The ABS fault cleared with a good sensor. Time to put the radiator back on, fill with coolant and fire her up

She started first time which was nice. Expected of course, but still satisfying. Bled the cooling system and power steering system - both happy and no leaks evident so continued to warm her up. All was going well until 5 minutes of running and she spluttered, died and wouldn't restart. Out of fuel at 1.3rd of a tank

I guess she's had a fuel pump at some point and it hasn't seated properly. Apparently there is still no end to the arse-kicking this car has in store for me 117 hours.

A test of patience that's for sure. But the end product will be fantastic and a tribute to your skills MJ.
Here's some photos from Saturday when I dropped by.

Oh dear. It's still fighting you, isn't it? You'd have thought that it would have admitted defeat ages ago under your hands.
To the non-technical, what does "hasn't seated properly" mean?
Does it mean that that the pump's cattle-trucked or does it mean that it needs to be seated properly (whatever that means)?

Slow and difficult expensive fix?
Quick and easy, cheap fix?

It's tricky, in the boot with the unit out the tank, the fumes fill the space and trying to get that bloody thing in while off your face on petrol fumes is interesting.

The pump is fine, but the housing is typically over-complicated. When you put it in the tank there are two pipes in the housing which have to sit in to a fixed piece in the bottom of the tank and its easy to miss one of them. If you do, when the fuel level gets down to 20 litres the pump starts sucking in air.

It is slow, difficult and cheap. Like Dezzy said, lying in the boot with the fuel tank open. Not fun.
