Default Removing green lichen / mildew safely from rubber seals

Hi,

I bought my 3.7 from an owner from Devon who then moved to France. He fixed some common problems but wasn't a cleaning fanatic...

I clay barred and waxed the car but held off cleaning the green growth from the rubber seals on the sunroof etc. This is the stuff you see on caravans not regularly used and stored in the shade.

Any tips on cleaning the rubber? I have mould remover for the house (double glazed homes can trap condensation) but am hesitant to proceed.

Any ideas?

Robert

I use nylon pan scourers. Brutal but effective.

I've never had to clean off the green stuff but I use Gummi Pfleger to help keep the rubber clean and supple:

I usually give them a good scrub with a car version of an electric toothbrush. It's basically an oversized toothbrush with a number of different heads. You can pick them up online.

I got mine from Aldi for £12 just over a year ago.

I use an ordinary toothbrush. I'll mask off any vulnerable paintwork so it doesn't get scratched, but glass is obviously fine.

I've seen Detailers use steam cleaners for such cleaning tasks but I can't say if long term it would deteriorate the rubber.

Default apc

get some all purpose cleaner such as daisy and dilute that 4-1 and just spray at the area and use a tooth brush. ideally you want a dedicated car APC such as meguairs or other brands.
best of luck

Lol. I'm actually fasting at present so need to get up or stay up to eat something before daylight. Also yes I have cleaned the window rubber as I recently purchased my seat Ibiza that had the same issue.
If you was near me I could've given you some sample of meguiars APC.
