Ah, did a search but missed that thread.
Though yours is FL, so subtly different to PF.

Did you not have a polarity problem with the bayonet bulbs for the map lights?

Number plates is something I was thinking of, but when I looked that state of the hex-headed screws holding them in decided not to bother; as noted in your thread, with UK yellow rear plates it's not vital.
(Though I have done it on my Focus and it definitely looks better)

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Different design then to PF as polarity is definitely wrong for them.

But I don't have a problem with bulbs on the mirror mount - that whole area is clearly different (PF mirror mounted on windscreen for starters).

Eish.... zeez Germans... why change things like that from PF to FL...

The issue I have with my mirror is getting access to remove the bulbs... can't fathom out how to get them out....
or how to dismantle the mirror without breaking something...

I have mailed the guy who supplied my LED's to see if there is a way around
the Polarity issue..... will let you know.

Someone on here (Oli I think) recomended I use a pair of thin nose pliers with insulating tape round the ends to avoid breaking the bulbs, worked a treat for me

It's never easy is it.... especially with our older cars...

Response from my supplier

" We've had that before with certain cars where it seems the vehicles polarity is different to the norm.

The only way we got around that was to actually open the LED and swop the polarity with the wires on the bulb. There really is no other way. It's not a difficult thing to do though, so anyone who has any kind of electrical experience can do this.

Thanx Mate I'll give that a bash.... seems a pretty simple solution...

Are they Bayonet or Wedge type bulbs .... just so that I know wetehr to twist or pull..... Tx.

Thanks for that, I've seen that sort of response elsewhere for similar problems.

As I noted earlier I'm going to try a small LED panel (rather than a bulb) which has a bayonet adapter on a lead where I can swap polarity easily.

mine just pulled out, so guess that means wedge type?
