Rear windscreen demist - not working!
As the weather has set in cold and wet, I have noticed that my rear screen is not demisting all over. There appears to be an element in the glass of the whole thing, but i am only getting a strip about 6 inches wide that is demisting and it takes a long time.
Is there anything I should be checking, or do I need a replacement? Martin

Is it a pre-facelift model with the metal embedded in the glass? Mine used to do the centre strip, then a section below, a section above for some reason.

My works only on the quarter of the screen up from the middle. It has been like that since I bought the car over 2 years ago. It is 1997 S8 with heater embedded in glass. If the heater was on the surface like most cars I would have found the open circuit and repaired it with silver paint. As it is embedded I just accepted as it is and lived with it because I do not want to replace rear windscreen I already replaced front. I assume there is only single connection going to the screen but there might be several and some of not giving power causing parts of the screen not to work. I will definitely follow this thread to see if anyone have a solution for it.

I have early PF with embedded into the screen but if I’m honest I can’t remember the last time I used it as the old girl doesn’t seem to steam up inside, think it was to demist the mirrors.
How clean is the glass on the inside? i find they steam up more if the glass is dirty. Or stop breathing in there. |
