I've had experience of both Spax & Koni coilovers on previous 'projects' as well as Sachs when I was involved in a performance car market that is a parsec away from todays market.

Spax custom built me a set for a particularly unusual application, Koni were also very helpful on another project.........

The Spax setup was easy to adjust, & still on one of my ex-cars 12 years later, so they can't be too dire if you can get on with yellow!

i only just went from std to S8 coilovers with a 20mm drop and that has mad a hell of a difference, would like to make the S8 set up slightly more stiff maybe 20% more and then poly bush about 85% of the car has any one poly bushed yet ?

Hi guys,

Anyone considered buying the weld on coilover kits from rally supply shops?

Then choose your 40mm bilstein inverted dampers and springs to match.

You'll need a good fabricator and a bit of mechanical engineering nouse.

I did this for both of my previous Celica GT-Fours.

Bilstein inverteds make most coilovers feel like Fisher-Price. I used to run 14kg/mm front and 8 kg/mm rear springs and it was nowhere near harsh....just extremely controlled.

Off the shelf is obviously a lot easier though!

John

Mike and myself were talking to the guys on the polybush stand at GTi International about providing the information to them so they could put and A8/S8 polybush set together. As I have an old complete set of suspension arms from replacing mine then it might be possible to use these and clean them up and get polybush to make up a complete set then tell us what the costs would be on a group basis. If I remember correctly they only need to justify a stock of 10 sets by selling 2 or 3 ahead

Please post here is genuinely interested. As a starter I have spoken to the person advertising here and he is seeing what sort of discount he can offer.

CtL
If it is good enough, I am interested.

Would there be an issue as the car is aluminium?

I can live with the S8 suspension but a bit stiffer as you say. So i am wanting to try out the Bilstein B6 Sport shocks. Some say on Audiwolrd that they are alot stiffer but some also say that Bilstein Sprint is a stiff shock and after having Bilstein Sprint on my S6 for several years i must disagree.. they give a very nice ride comfort and are excelent for track and so on, but they are as far from stiff as you can get...

It annoys me that Koni doesnt supply adjustable shocks when for instance the KW2 kit has adjustable front and rear...

Could probably fit Konis from a A6 or S4 B5.... same suspension but more weight...

Hi,

It would be welding of the strut. Are the struts aluminium on the 8? Wouldn't surprise me!!

If so, it would mean making a threaded tube out of aluminium and tig welding that on.

Then again I've just read above Bilstein do various shocks for the 8 so probably too much hastle. In fairness when I did them for the Celica there was sod all out there.......of a high quality that is.
