Audi A8 D3 AMI MP3/Ipod player
This is a full retrofit kit with loop through adapters for power and the fiber, takes < 10 mins to fit, although might have to update your MMI to a slighter newer version if you're really out of date.
The AMI sits in the empty slot in the glovebox next to the CD Changer and gives you a proper music interface, all controllable through the MMI, DIS and steering wheel controls.... The unit is standard, and then has a choice of two leads - USB or IPOD. This comes with USB, but the IPOD one isnt very expensive. It comes with a slide out tray too for your ipod or hard disc to sit on. I just used an SD card with a USB adapter as it was quick for me to update on the laptop. I just put some MP3's on, and away it goes... Pretty good quality, being part of the MOST bus, the audio is digital all the way from the AMI through to the amp at the back where it finally gets converted into Analogue.... Im a little confused by this.
when getting audi to quote this it came to arround 229+vat i think. thats with the combo lead for HDD + ipod and removal tool and the lead to allow cd player + extra leads etc. why second hand do these seem to command just as much money as new? unless i am really missing something.
