I have glass lenses on the front and had 2 smash via stones i ended up covering them with a film and have had no issues since. There is a thread on here about it and it is available in clear. Seeing the price of these bit could well be worth covering the new parts.

I have both inners and offside outer. I'll check they're still working over the weekend having been in my garage for about two years. They were removed from my 2006 S8 when I upgraded to facelift.
