I can't recode the central locking
I'm trying to recode the central locking module on a 2002 model.
The current code is 15179 and I would like to add the following; +00004=selective locking and +00032=locking via speed When I try to change the code to 15215, I click on 'Go for it' and it takes me back to the main central locking module screen but the original code remains. I've tried just adding 4 and then just adding 33 but to no avail. I do have an error code for the alarm which re-appears as soon as I clear it so I wondered if you maybe cannot recode when there is a fault? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

1st thing- standard coding should be 15178 so try adding to that instead of 15179.
Otherwise check COM port latency setting, it was 5 or 10ms by default on mine and it was really difficult to reset service remainder took like 10 tries to get it done. Then I read somewhere that you should change latency to 1 or 2ms, I set it to 1ms and it works fine every time. Some of the cheap e-bay cables might not work with 1ms but all should with 2ms.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
It will probably be the weekend before i get a chance to look at this again. I did some other digging and now wonder if I'm being stupid and have a conflict between settings? I'm trying to add in the code so that I have one press of the key fob to unlock the drivers door and a second press to unlock all the doors for security reasons. What I didn't do was take into account the code that's currently set to one press unlocks all doors. If this turns out to be the case, you'll probably find me in B&Q looking for a tin of tartan paint.......... |

Thanks for the replies folks.
It's taken me a few weeks but I finally got back to looking at this. I got it working. I added on the 32 first so went from 15179 to 15211. I then went back in and changed it from 15211 to 15215 and it's all good. I now have just the drivers door unlocking from one blip and the car locks at 15mph or whatever it is. Thanks for all the contributions. |

The label file within VAGCOM does not detail the coding for the chirp, but with a bit of trial and error and the site Guy had previously found : www.audiworld.com/tech/elec39.shtml We changed his coding from 13130, which originally gave : C02,+00002 = Anti-Theft Confirmation via Blink C04,+00008 = Anti-Theft-System C06,+00064 = Comfort Closing via Remote Control C07,+00256 = Rear Lid Logic C08,+00512 = Remote Control "Close" Confirmation (1x Blink) C10,+04096 = Remote Control "Open" Confirmation (2x Blink) C11,+08192 = Remote Control and changed the code to 14186 (adding 1056) 32 for locking once moving (unlocks when removing ignition key) and 1024 for the chirp on lock. Hope this helps anybody looking to code for a chirp to confirm locking, now to try it on the D3 when I get an alarm horn fitted

I'm so buying one of these finally. (On my third A8, only this time around, It's a 2001 S8.)
My 2004 A8L chirped on lock, and locked when moving, and unlocked when I removed the key, and I liked it, but my first A8 did not do either, and I did not know what to miss. I just bought the 2001, and I'm trying to get it where I want it, and resolve all the little stuff that bugs me when it's not working right. Such as cruise control... I'm not sure why it does not work, but I'll find out soon I'm sure. UPDATE: Did the switch massage/abuse trick, just keep cycling the cruise control switches, and it finally started to work again. I think the car had just sat around too much, and they must have corroded. Last edited by adjuster; 7th March 2012 at 08:21 PM. |
