Default Rally car owners and drivers

How many people on the forum own and build rally cars ect.. i know we are all petrol heads but id like to know ..

Also just a sneaky teaser ... I have just had the go ahead to build a rally stage next to our unit with a 4X4 track in the middle of it ..

Its only 10 acres so it will be a Super special stage for shake downs and vehicle set ups .. and of course a way for me to vent some steam ..

Build commences next week ..

I would like Any one with a Drone to come over and do some Areal Shots for us so that we can keep track of the before and after and also do an over lay of the design on some fresh images ..

If you are an A8 owner and have a drone then Im looking for 1080p or 4K resolution possibly a full day of droning for us to be able to grasp the lay out and requirements ..

There could be some free work/service in it for you depending on your engine type

We have 3 Audi's lined up that are Quattro's for fun but will mainly be a run what you bring style track but we seem to have a lot of interest with MK2 Escort owners and Semi professional rally teams that want to shake there cars down.

How how many of you would be interested in this

Should take us 3 weeks to complete and will aim to be open and running by 30th march 2016

Sounds like a fantastic project - wish I could (or had the space) to do something like that!

There's a guy over on SRS known as josedebardi who does photography and drone stuff, but I think it's his business, so no idea if he'd be up for it. I'll point him this direction though just in case.

He did this last year (shame about the colour)...

Guy,
Keep up all the good work.
Something for us to play with when we visit again.

Awesome! never built a rally car myself Guy but have a few friends that have over the years, and Mk2 Escorts were their favorite weapons of choice, a couple of scoobies and a really quick Fiesta. But all into track and sprints now.

I was going to say i don't reckon many 8 drivers will be up for drive in what you arrive, but then seen Ray's post there, well done Ray now lets get that 8 of yours bouncing off the rev limiter crossed up sideways. I reckon the 8 will make for an excellent rally car

Sorry Chaps,
Since Guy started this thread SWMBO wont let me out on my own with the 8.
She has threatened me with hiding my key. She remembers me driving a centurion over a bit of rough stuff some years back. These are the problems with a long standing relationship. She knew my Mother very well before I met her therefore I cannot hide anything.

I remember taking an ultra low mileage brand new A4 2.5 Tdi Quattro demonstrator onto a muddy building site once to 'test' the Quattro....

Passenger was bricking it..... but then, he was the one that had the car on loan.....

It was great fun I've got to say.....

I'm much older and more sensible now.

Well. older definitely....

It's almost what the RS6 was built for Ian. Few rally stages let her kick up some dirt.

Lol Ray your comments reminded me of Pam Ayres' new poem -

Satnav – A new poem by Pam Ayres

I have a little Satnav, it sits there in my car.
A Satnav is a driver's friend it tells you where you are.
I have a little Satnav, i've had it all my life.
It's better than the normal ones, my Satnav is my wife.

It gives me full instructions, especially how to drive
"It's sixty miles an hour", it says, "You're doing sixty five".
It tells me when to stop and start, and when to use the brake
And tells me that it's never ever, safe to overtake.

It tells me when a light is red, and when it goes to green
It seems to know instinctively, just when to intervene.
It lists the vehicles just in front, and all those to the rear.
And taking this into account, it specifies my gear.

I'm sure no other driver, has so helpful a device.
For when we leave and lock the car, it still gives its advice.
It fills me up with counselling, each journey's pretty fraught.
So why don't I exchange it, and get a quieter sort?

Ah well, you see, it cleans the house, makes sure I'm properly fed.
It washes all my shirts and things, and keeps me warm in bed!
Despite all these advantages, and my tendency to scoff,
I only wish that now and then, I could turn the bugger off.

To be honest I needed a bit of levity after yesterday's horrendous drive to Bristol. Rain all the way, lots of stop start traffic and that was on the cleverly planned superfast M6 that has now been resolved into a Government designed longitudinal car park. Normally under three hours took five hours. Thankfully after a two hour rest at a friends, where I was fed and watered, the return journey took well under three hours, more like it.
Poor old Gwen, she don't half get some stick from me.
