Default Value my W12

So im in 2 minds whether or not to sell up to fund a mortgage deposit.

On one hand the extra cash would be great, on the other I don't want to let it go for pennys.

This one, similar spec sold for 6k http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-W1...vip=true&rt=nc

Theres been quite a few SWB W12`s for sale recently, all around the 6-8k mark, and sitting on ebay for weeks. Bought mine for 8.5k 2 years ago and have only made it better.

So anyway, whats mine realistically worth?

2005 SWB W12 with about 104k miles
Ebony black with black leather and walnut, silver trim
Been told it has every possible extra you could get in 2005 amounting to a 97K bill for Manchester United who are the first owners in the book. Rumour has it it was Sir Alex Fergusons but they wouldn't confirm when the pervious owner phoned them up.
4x heated massage seats
Rear fridge
Rear screens
Bose surround sound
Working TPMS with 2 year old refurbished diamond cut wheels
ETC ETC ETC
Will have 12 months mot very soon after a service and few jobs sorted.
Just had new discs and brembo pads all round. Body work is in good nick, few marks here and there but overall very good.

THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE ADVERT, simply seeing if its worth selling. If not and the prices keep dropping, I'm just going to keep hold and do some overtime instead :P

Any input welcome. Thanks

Fridge / electric rears / Rear screens, is the spec to have. Not many of them around.

But.

There's very few people looking for a 6 litre, 12 cylinder, pretty thirsty and costly to service D3.....

The key to a good price, is patience.

If you want it gone quick, 6 K for sure. If you can prove (audi health check, independent inspection etc) that its flawless and well serviced, along with the great spec and (relatively) cheap tax disc, you might squeeze nearer 8K imo.

S8's are regularly coming under 10K now, and unfortunately, they are the more desirable model, so you need some price difference to make yours stand out...

I would add that the last 12 months has been really tough for used car sales. I think the prolonged low interest rates has created a glut of new car buyers pushing more and more tin into the second user space, so its a tough arena even when you're not selling something so niche.

Very true - and it's only going to get worse when interest rates finally start rising, and the car financing bubble kicks off a second "sub-prime like" credit crisis, when the market will be flooded with many, many more cars. We're doomed, all doomed, Mr Mainwaring....

My thoughts confirmed, not going to be enough to consider selling.

Yes they can be a very expensive car to maintain, but so can any D3 or any car worth having. But, ive just ordered everything through my work for a service, 15L of oil, 4 filters and a new door lock, came to £282, which I thought was reasonable (did plugs last time).

Not the best time of year to advertise if its going to sit for a month or two, coming into bad weather and Christmas. Kinda missed my chance.

Whole D3 market seems to be coming down no matter what you've got to offer. Been watching several other W12`s sit for sale below 8k for weeks and months. Pretty stale.

Hopefully manage a deposit without selling it the way things as looking. Ill just wait till the prices go up in, what about 20 years time?

The market for these cars is why they are so relatively cheap. Who's the buyer?
Most families won't buy it as the expense is in fuel and servicing of a £80k thirsty beast.
Most company vehicles will be new because they get taxed on the new price, not the second hand value.

The older they get the smaller the market, which is why Ians thing on waiting for the right buyer is correct. Advertise it for what you want and wait....You may still get lucky and if you don't you keep onto your car!
