Awesome thank you.

I've done a fault by fault reset and will drive again tomorrow then report back.

Some seem to be from the remap and others from a flat battery.

There is a fault code thrown up by the EGR after the delete. I would like to code this out so that the engine doesnt read a fault (and therefore default to a different map).

Can anyone help?

EGR if I'm not mistaken needs to be mapped out.

As far as I'm aware that cut be coded out of the ecu.

Yep, EGR has been mapped out but coming up with the component not functioning error code.

I wonder if it needs the plug disconnecting so the ECU doesnt know its there at all....

Anyone know where the plug(s) are?

Or should I just try to set the value as low as possible on the VCDS? How?!

Thanks as ever.

I wonder if most of your issues are due to the engine map?

Ok so i've been fiddling around with this and now have the EGR and nother codes sorted. I cleared manually and automatically each area then ran the car. The EGR codes came back. I then disconnected them, drove a little and the engine light and codes came back. I then reconnected the EGR's drove and then cleared again. After a short drive they have not come back. I am now left with this:

I can live with these!

I have also changed the air filters (K&N Cheaper then OE so thats what she has) and new Bosch fuel filter.

Afterall this I think she definitely drives better

I'd be wary of just looking at the Gateway Installation List

I've found I regularly get my Auto Transmission marked with a Malfunction but the ECU scan has never found a fault of any kind!

I'd also echo what other have said earlier; the 'Clear DTCs' one-click function doesn't seem to work properly [and I'm thinking of reporting it as such to Ross Tech].

I always do my scans with the engine running as with just 'ignition on' you can get all sorts of faults due to the electric load on the battery that the A8s take. Unless you have a really hefty charger supply [12V 30A] on the battery with the ignition off, you'll get strange results.

Also, as others have said, you need to clear the DTCs individually and 'run the car around the block' to see what reappears. Then do a full scan and then put the whole log online ...

Thanks for this. I just posted the gateway to be breif really. Have been through and deleted DTCs separately raher than in one go and after a drive today the same view as above exists ie EGR issue sorted.

Cheers

Jon

That error sometimes occurs when a remap has been done. Does that time stamp coincide with the original remap, if you have the history?

What does it show in Advance ID?

The ROM is the 93C76 which stores the odometer reading, CP data and the advance ID stuff. When viewed in a hex editor you can see all this information.

If everything works with the cluster I wouldn't be too worried.

Thanks so much for your reply.

I'm not sure about the last remap. The guy I bought it from didn't even know it had been done! However my tuner was not impressed- "just a 10% remap"

So that could be the reason. How do I check Advanced ID?

The cluster does seem to work just fine only the finger print scanner doens't work.

Cheers

Jon
