Default Audi dealers offering remap

It's probably old news but I do not go to dealers much. Today I went in for radio code and they have banner advertising discounted remap from £499 to £369 for 2.0TDI bringing it from 140HP to 178HP. I assume this does not void warranty as well in which case seems like good value for money.

I think we'll see a lot more of that kind of thing. Volvo have been offering their Polestar remaps on engines for a while now.

Default Dealer remaps

Not to sound like a party pooper cos I think remaps are a good thing...but surely the dealer should be offering this service for free...since shouldnt a brand new car come optimised for best performance when the poor punter pays out for a new car....I think one should haggle for a free remap when buying new!!!!!

Cars sold through dealers have passed type approval including emissions/noise tests in order to reach the UK market place, so in theory can only be modified by the owner post-registration and sale.

Having said that if they optimised their maps a bit more before signing the car off it wouldn't hurt

Ancient thread revival I know but I've just had this done on my V40 T5 today, feels a lot better. Fully warrantied by Volvo.

It's a minimal peak power increase, so my insurance goes up by about £1 a month.
Changes are all in mid-range power and especially torque (it's a 2.0L turbo petrol run on 99RON) and the gearbox (8-speed auto) is remapped as well to match that.

Feels a lot more "urgent" without needing to drop into Sports mode, much less delay to get power, though still not got the instant pull of the S8.
Performance figures seem to give it a faster 0-60 now than the S8 though. The S8 will easily leave it behind above about 100mph though.

Does anyone have a good value for 0-100kph in a facelift 40V 360bhp D2 S8? Preferably using 99RON fuel.
I can only find 0-60mph of 6.2 seconds quoted on US sites which seems slow, probably using low-octane petrol. (PF/340bhp brochures say 6.8secs.)
The V40 is now 0-100kph in 6.0secs, no 0-60mph figure but I guess that will be about 5.7/5.8. It also loves 99RON.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
