Correct, hence why they get replaced with non-heated versions.

Thank MJ. Quite poor really. I think I had better start looking at my D3 retrofit sooner rather than later, before they become NLA!

I have finally got in touch with someone at Pilkington Classics (despite 2 contact emails though their website and 3 phonecalls with promises of call-backs - Do these companies WANT to do business? )

A very pleasant lady called Emma from the Classics department said that, as it would be a made to order (MTO) model, they would require a template - preferably a donated windscreen. It would involve design and tooling-up at around £5000 one off cost plus the cost of glass per screen at approx £150 - 200 per unit. They can do the heating film plus other coatings in the laminated sandwich plus, so i gather, other logos/Del and Rodney. All plus VAT and they would require a minimum order of 5 or maybe more. So, if there were 5 persons a cost of approx £1500 - 2000 would be a likely cost per screen. Thats a lot of screen de-icer cans!

I have contacted St Gobain in UK just to see if they have any loafing on a shelf somewhere but have met with a complete lack of response

Going off on the proverbial tangent and completely OT, I've been finding it almost impossible to get work done. Here's my current list since September:

- Boiler install quote from end of September (company 1) - still waiting
- Boiler install quote from start of October (company 2) - still waiting
- Manufacture of four roller blinds from end of September - cancelled order after 8 weeks despite two week timescale
- CCTV report from chimney sweep on damaged chimney from start of November - still waiting (out of pocket £450 - £150 for CCTV job and house insurance renewal up by £300 for claim)
- Builders quote to sort out chimney issues (damp and cracked liners) - still waiting
- Report on existing oil fired range for boiler replacement scheme from November - still waiting

All this despite me calling them on numerous occasions.

Looks a bit too pricey for me to indulge in one.
There's the cost of an ECU and wiring and installation and "stuff" on top of that so if I ever get the urge I may consider secondhand.

I've not seen them for sale in Germany for a while but on Allegro (Poland) they seem to come up a little more often for about £500 or so. But then again, transporting a big piece of glass from Poland to anywhere is going to be pricey and risky.

I think I'll stick with the scraper.

That is a lot of money for a screen, but then don't know what I was expecting I guess it's good to know option is there if enough people loose their minds.
