Any cheaper and the cable will not be genuine and using a hacked copy of the software, the RRP is around £260 for the UK and it's a good deal and will work with any VAG car from the 1990s until today. Think of it as an investment, it will serve you well into the future.

If you don't do jacking mode and have the car up for a wee while (doing brakes for example), the suspension will dump the air, and that corner will come down very low, so low, you need to run the car to get it to lift back up again.. Been there, done that

Yup, me too, but no lasting damage.... Worst case its a bit bumpy for a few miles whilst it builds up some air pressure

That's where I got mine and wouldn't go anywhere else unless to other UK distributors.
Was watching several on eBay for fun over several months and they all went for £10-£25max below Gendan's price, what is wrong with people (bidders), seriously !?!?

Thanks for that, Thankfully I didn't win the ebay cable, it went for 240 and tbh I'd rather pay the extra £23 for a brand new one.

Also I've got an MMI for 310 off A8Parts (was on ebay for just over £400 with a 'make an offer' option so I ended up at 310 for it) Carl said he would hold it for me till I've done the vcds scan.

I am about to order 1 off Gendan. I have read that I need to do a MOST scan to detect error s with the MMI (remember my 'Car' button doesn't work) and from what I can tell I need another cable? Can anyone give me any advice on that/

Aside from that, when I get the kit off Gendan do I just run a full scan to detect errors? I am concerned that when I connect the MMI module off A8Parts the 'Car' button may still not work but I guess I will be reassured when I run a vcds scan?

Yep, just plug in and hit the auto scan. VCDS will query the can gateway to see what modules are installed and then go off and scan them all.

As long as your MMI is working then the MOST scan is pointless, since any fault in that will result in the MMI not working at all as each device is connected in series. Any breaks in the MOST bus would result in no radio, no nav, no phone, no nothing.

VCDS ordered

I've been reading up on the Ross-Tech site, I'm impressed and it hasn't even arrived yet

I'm wondering if I have opened an expensive can of worms!

All the buttons on the MMI work fine except the 'Car' button, I am not sure I understand properly - will the auto scan detect that there is a fault with the 'Car' button because I am trying to determine if I need to buy a new one. How will I know after the scan that I need to replace the MMI?

On a side note - is it going to tell me the issue with my handbrake too??

sorry, many more questions to follow

Got my Ross-Tech cable and I have just completed a full scan - results attached.

Lots of malfunctions

can anyone tell from the results if I need to replace my MMI? The radio status says malfunction but the radio is fine - should I just go ahead and buy the MMI as I cant see anything else that might be causing the 'Car' button to not work?

Thanks in advance...

btw - anyone need a full scan
