Mirror adjustment not working
Hello,
The mirror adjustment of my car is not working for both sides, that is to say when I press the adjustment buttons nothing happens. I've checked all fuses, and they seem okay. So I was thinking the problem is either the actual motors or the control module. Has anyone any advice how to proceed? Furthermore if the problem are the motors in the mirrors, and I have to replace those, I'm considering retrofitting electric folding mirrors. I'll of course need the right mirrors and the switch, but do I need anything else? And is it (a kind of) plug and play? Or is it a large project and which forces me to do all kind of wiring? The car is 1998 prefacelift. |

Attached is the cct diagram for the mirrors (Facelift model but it might help).

At the risk of asking a silly question, have you turned the knob to select a mirror before pushing the buttons? The facelift ones do fold, but I don't know about PF models

Thanks I'll see if I can do anything with that. Yes I've tried the knob both ways and nothing is happening. I'm still busy with timing belt, but when I'm done I'll try some more.
Does anyone know if the prefacelift had folding mirrors? If it hadn't retrofitting will probably be a hell. |

My PF S8 had the full monty on mirrors, apart from dimming, so definitely available.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten..... 1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors. e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later) 1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer. And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850! |
