1978 Renault 5 TS - twin choke carb....zoom. Could see the tarmac through the boot floor. Drove into the back of my mate's mum's brand new Fiesta Popular Plus. Had a different colour bonnet and wing after that...
1982 Volvo 345 GL 5 door - what a looker. Painted the lower half in black hammerite when it started rusting heavily. Workhorse while I was at university. Blew head gasket on the M3....no breakdown cover. Whoops. 1991 Vauxhall Astra SXi 5 door - magnet for police cars... 1991 VW Golf GTi 16v 3 door - still miss that car...black, big bumpers, TSW deep dishes...mmmm 1993 Subaru Impreza WRX (import) 4 door - bought before everyone really knew about them...amazing car, but absolutely ridiculous fuel bills and appalling range 1997 Saab 9000 Aero - still almost mint at 165k miles and 300bhp. Ran it for 7 years. Should NEVER have sold that. Might still buy it back one day. 2002 Audi S8 - still prefer the Saab... Zip

TBH don't think the Saab will last long, it being over 20 years old
In a few weeks, my lad will be begging for a new car before he passes his test |

Wow, everyone owned quite a few cars around here. I'm only at my 4th but hopefully many to come from now on.
Age 18: a '95 VW Passat - 1.9 diesel This was first and hopefully last diesel car I've ever owned Age 19: Exchanged the Passat for a '95 Mercedes C180 Age 21: Sold the C Class and bought another one, same car but more options since the previous one didn't even have electric windows Age 25: Gave the C Class to my father and bought my current 2000 A8, 3.7 which I'm planning to keep for a long time from now on Dreaming now of an S8, D3, hopefully will become reality soon Cheers, Alex |

Pasted from another forum. Very picture heavy!
2000 MK5 Fiesta 1.25 For some reason I don’t actually have any pictures of my first car, would you believe it! Got it after packing my test in 2007. 1995 Renault Clio 1.2 I saw this for the sale for 500 and bought it. I don’t know why looking back. No power steering, old, slow and barry boy to hell. Bad boy bonnet (who remembers those!) big wheels, fat exhaust which was stupidly loud and a 4 point harness with bucket seats. Right shed. Headgasket went on it and I sold straight after for a grand. I was laughing, especially when it dupmed all its oil over the A1 the next day… 1996 Volvo 440 GS Turbo This was for sale down the road. Lovely deep red, lowered 40mm with some nice subtle alloys, and powerflow exhaust which was nice and quiet. Rang my insurance and they said for an extra £374 I could have it so I did. Didn’t realise they meant per month… it was soon sold… 1995 Ford Fiesta Si 1.6 Bought off a friend because it was cheap, had a full Ashley cat back racing exhaust, sounded nice, not too loud just nice. Front left wheel bearing starting making a noise but it was fine as I had a mate who was a mechanic. Ironic as I was on my way to see said friend when it shat its loins and locked the wheel. On a country road, at 55mph, in the dark, on a bend. Result was not nice, skidded backwards into the ditch then bounced back out into the road landing in front of an off duty copper. Lucky me! 1992 Volvo 940 2.0 Turbo I liked my old one so I thought id have a bigger one! Suprisingly cheap to insure for what it was. Ended up getting T boned at a junction on rear quarter, it didn’t survive… 1996 Mazda MX5 MK1 1.8 Sporty, sticks like glue and went ok. Eventually got sick of no power steering so that was retro fitted. Eventually tired of the small spaces and having to rev its nuts off to go anywhere. 1997 Volvo 940 2.3 Turbo I loved my old 940 so much I bought the more powerful model! Installed a MBC and upped the boost from 4psi to 12psi. Eventually clutch started to slip and coupled with me fancying a change again it went. 1998 Mercedes C250 Turbodiesel Sublime car, always fancied a Mercedes and I loved the growl these 5 pots had. Got bored of the rust eventually on the arches. 1997 Volvo 940 Estate 2.3 Turbo Went back to something that couldn’t rust… as they are galvanised upto the doors. Always preferred the estates to the saloons. This one was mint and eventually sold to an enthusiast, couldn’t turn down the impresa could I…. Impreza Estate 2.0 Turbo Converted to RWD by removing the front shafts leaving in hubs, and welding rear diff (I think the center diff was welded as well I cant remember now) but it was lethal in the wet. In 5th gear soon as it hit boost it would spin up. Was approx. 320hp. Gearbox eventually went leaving me in the fast lane of a busy roundabout at rush hour… cheers! 1999 Volvo V70 R Estate Always wanted a T5 and with the Scooby gone I thought sod it. Would have preferred an 850R but they were a bit scarce and pricey for a nice one. Shifted well and I LOVE that 5 cyl growl (again) gearbox went soon after a month passed so I broke it for spares and made a few pennies. 1995 Volvo 940 Estate Turbodiesel Marmite car, all down to the engine. D24tic from an old VW transporter, basically a lorry engine. Agricultural and old school. I really went to town on this one as I intended to keep it for a long while. I stripped it completely on the interior and cleaned everywhere, shampoo’d all the carpets, the seats, everything! It was immaculate inside. I even bought the car below as a spares vehicle to update the styling. Newer tailgate with spoiler, door handles, light clusters etc. Deleted the rear silencer too. My snobbery soon come back on and I fancied another merecedes… Volvo 960 3.0 Estate Spares car for the above, stripped for parts as well. 1999 Mercedes E300 Turbodiesel Lovely car, same engine as the C250 but with an extra cylinder. Got a new job, earnt silly money, wanted a silly car…. 2006 Audi A8 4.2 Turbodiesel Sport What a machine. 326bhp and 475 ft lb, lovely! Only thing I did to this was put a set of 20’s on to set her off, standard BBS Splits were dwarfed by the car. Even managed 45.1mpg going to London once @ 64mph, and 37 on the way back sat at 90! Eventually it slowly started getting trashed. Parking dings, scratches, scuffs – it was heart wrenching as it was the only car id handed over a substantial amount of money over for. I came to the conclusion that you cant have a really nice clean car and drive it everyday, it will just get filthy and trashed, unless you work part time. I know working full time it would never be always shiny. So I came to conclusion I needed a crapbox to drive to work and keep a nice car in the garage. The only problem is a nice car in the garage wont be a diesel…. Bye bye! 2006 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI If I was getting a crap box I wasn’t going to do it by halves. Its RIDICULOUSELY slow, awful to drive, rickety, noisey and uncomfortable. Anything can happen to it and I don't care! Its a great feeling at Tesco. Eventually despised it ans got rid. If rather spend the money on extra tax, fuel and insurance.... 1992 Dodge Ram 350 LE 5.9 Cummins Turbodiesel Ok so I was looking for something V8 and petrol, and I found this. I've always wanted a truck, I remember watching these things on youtube producing silly power when I was younger. I still stand by the fact ebay should be a banned site at work….. Was damn good fun to drive, not fast by all means, but powerful. You get the feeling it would pull a house down. I remember driving home with the windows down one day and I was thinking of a word to describe the sound. Thunderous is what I came up with and it was perfect… One thing I did was re trim the headlining in suede as it was droopy and looked honking. Eventually it started to develop problems. Electrical gremlins. The interior was rusty under the dash, all the column etc. Couple that with parts having to come from US of A and it was pretty rough up close. It needed work and I didn’t see fit to do it. It was an itch that was scratched. 2003 Mercedes S55 AMG Kompressor I was looking after the truck, for a car to keep for a long time. Something to have in the garage for nice days out and something to polish and keep me occupied. I will admit I was looking for the V12 TT. All I had found was black or silver exterior with light or dark beige. YUK! This popped up and my god I was smitten. Not the V12 but that’s probably a good thing given their reputation. Tanzanite blue with black and dark wood interior, YUM! Im glad it got the AMG and not the V12, although the V12 is faster this is noisier stock thanks to AMG, has 2 more pots on the brakes (8) and just little bits like AMG sport seats etc. Developed a few niggles and again chopped it in. B5 S4 Avant Fancied another quattro! Not roomy at all in the back, barely get someone in behind me. Was nice having a manual box with some power - until i realised you cant actually shift as quick as an auto. Was a real head turner this car, sounded awesome on full chat and feck me did it shift off the line! HR Coilovers Porsche front brake conversion Stainless exhaust with a decat MTM remap Rotiform 19's. Drove to Somerset to get it so it was a 400 ish mile round trip. And now im back to the one car, D2 S8 on LPG. Ice come to the conclusion it will never be mint, but im loving the V8 growl, extra economy of the LPG, and general waftness of a big barge!
