Default Headlights, what bulbs do i need?

Had a look though the posts but can't determine what headlights I have so not sure if they use the D2S or the H7 bulbs, anyone know what they are?

Thanks,
Jonny

I am no expert in lights and it's been a while since I had A8.
Most if not all in UK have HID lights for dipped beam (or bixenon) in the projector housing which is D2S. The reflector housing is for full beam H7 and cornering light which yours does not seem to have is H8. If it's all halogen without HID then I think dipped beam would also be H7 but I don't recall seeing any in life with all halogen only in UK.

I have a pair of D2S Philips X-tremeVision gen2 that I bought for my A8 but never used so happy to sell on at discounted price

This is a link on Amazon where I got them

That reflector housing certainly looks like it has an H7 or similar halogen bulb in it, which is consistent with Ainars comments.

I think that your main and dipped headlight is behind the outer (steerable) lens. And I think it will be a HID which operates as dipped or main by way of a flap that interrupts the light to give the appropriate pattern.

https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/ is usually pretty accurate

There are a few ways to confirm you have xenon lights.

1. They are brighter and usually whiter than halogen
2. There will not be an adjuster for the beam
3. The lights should do the 'up and down dance' on start up (in the dark)
4. There will be a ballast and igniter

The D3 with xenon has D2s bulbs for dipped beam and H7's for high beam

I've checked. High and low bean are supplied by one bulb (HID D2S) and the unit employs a shutter to switch between high and low beam.
You will find it all here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy2IWY5JiEg at about 9 mins into the video.
The H7 (halogen) bulb is merely for illumination while turning at low speeds.

I stand corrected, although could be different on certain models i.e. cars with AFSII headlamps etc
