Lager up overnight in Holland, great steak and good beer.
Possibly joined by some of the Dutch 8s in the morning and head off to the German border. Increase to warp speed and cross Germany to the event.
Arrive, check in and order a beer and check out the 8s in the car park and catch up with our German friends.
Saturday is a day out organised by the Germen 8 owners. Saturday night a sit down meal with prizes from the days events and Ray steals my longest distance travelled trophy!
More beers!
Sunday, BIG breakfast and start the journey home......

I'll never be allowed to live that down.
I usually travel separately but try to catch up in Holland. One year I thought I'd missed them due to being a bit late, then travelled at well over 130mph (160+ on my clock) to catch up. Being in front I never did and became the first to book in at the hotel. Even beat all the Germans.

Having never been to a car meet this does all sound like a lot of fun and games. Especially if combined with peace and quiet (independent of dependants back at the ranch).

Hmmnnnn.

I stay for at least two weeks when doing this but I have friends and family in Germany. Some of them since 1958 which is possibly before some of you youngsters were born.
It can be expensive, usually about four tankfuls just for the meet and the hotel of course. But so worth it.

It is indeed and enjoyable trip. no one has to drive any faster than they want, we stop several times and the range of 8s there is awesome. On one event the Germans arranged a cruise for over 40 8s in a column. German B roads are better than our A roads. a sight to behold.

Note that dependants tend to travel with the participants, especially the Germans. Real good family fun.
