Central locking door switch not working - 2002 S8
Hey guys, whilst waiting for me outside the station the other night my wife noticed that the central locking switch on the drivers door did not work.
Is this likely to be the switch not working or could it be pump related? All doors lock from the key fob without any issues. If it is the switch does anyone have a part number? Cheers Rich

The door latch assembly is:
MY 00-03 = Right 4D1 837 016D and Left 8D1 837 015F but there is a whole lots of gubbins in there which may play a part if it is a fault.

I was hoping it might be the little micro-switch at fault - would I need to replace the whole assembly with then?

Micro switch is 4A0 998 985. I had a similar problem but it was the mechanical linkage which was at fault. theres some rather cheap plastic linkages in there which fail. I did a (i hope) permanent fix involving re-attaching the rods to the plastic linkages and all seems fine. You need to get the whole internal door / window sub-frame off though to get at it.

I think Ricky is talking about electrical switch inside on the door card that you use to lock/unlock doors not the microswitches in the lock which work when you turn key in the lock. So it should be either switch or wiring fault.
Loke this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A8-D2...cAAOSwcl1XPO2a But I think it only works with ignition on and only for a short while after ignition switched off so that could be a reason why it was not working while she was waiting.

Ok Thanks guys.
I was referring to the switch as ainarssems says... I should have been clearer. The link shows the part I was referring to but I do not need the handle ( or at least I think I don't?) I wanted to see the price of the switch at my local Audi but it's probably cheaper to get one including handle from ebay.
