what other unit will fit instead of the square RNS-c unit ?.......

I am no expert so appologies if this is wrong, I was looking a while back at replacing my RNS-D but the problem is its not straight edged or square so would have to try and modify an A6 face plate for mine I think as no A/S8 plates are available. That suggests to me that any double din size will fit the physical space you have, but where you might have some issues are with the wiring, but again I have been told by a specialist installer that almost anything can be made to work, if adapters are not available for a particular model they can be fabricated. or even hard wired if required, so in summary probably best establish what Double Din unit takes your fancy and then establish what needs to done to connecters etc to make it work. At least you dont have to worry about butchering a face plate

In the past I have had these units apart - The RNS-C for example has a common fault where the ribbon cables for the screen work loose and the screen goes funny.
Largely speaking, many of the parts, including the faceplate bolt straight on and off the RNS-C and D and changeover. Furthermore, you can take for example, a broken A6 RNS-D unit, and put that faceplate on a perfectly working A6 RNS-D unit. Thus, I see no reason why you couldnt just buy a replacement, tapered, RNS-C (or D) and change your square face over so it will slot straight in. Note that although the RNS-D is more up to date, and faster with current map coverage, it will be tough, if not impossible to get the map directions working in the DIS, also the radio reception might not be as good as the RNS-D uses diversity and the RNS-C doesnt - but - otherwise, TV, bose, phone, power etc will all plug straight in. I know I have a good RNS-D kicking around somewhere if you're interested that came out of my last D2.

hi, i could be interested in the RNS-D , will i need a vag com to get it working ?. i dont really know much about these .

aaahhhhhh yes .......
im also looking to download a 2007 disc. but cant find anywhere. migh unit is approx 220 x 120 , so need something similar . seat and some vw units are the same .but i'll prob be no better off than i am now
