Thumbs up 2005 A8 4.2 tdi

2005 55 registration A8 4.2 TDI SE, owned for over six years and well cared for and maintained during that time, one previous owner (the usual “company director”). It was registered 17/11/2005 so benefits from the lower VED bracket for the 4.2 TDI, great MPG (40+ MPG on the motorway) and awesome performance (0-60 5.9 seconds) means this is by far the best all round A8 you could buy.

It is in very good condition and comes with a comprehensive specification and history as follows:

Silver paint, Black Valcona Leather interior
19 inch “12 Spoke” forged alloy wheels
Sports Air Suspension
Comfort seats with memory function and lumbar support
Heated seats
Deluxe centre arm rest
Extended Aluminium
Through loading / ski bag
Walnut Inlays

Heat insulating double layer glass
Tinted windows
Solar sunroof – maintains air circulation keeping interior cool
Multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable

Xenon Plus Headlights with DRL (LED)
Folding/heated/dimming door mirrors
Parking system plus – front and rear sensors
Light and rain Sensor
Inside and outside lighting package
Cruise control
Advanced key

MMI – with latest software and maps
TV (analogue)
DAB
Bose
CD Changer
Bluetooth Mobile hands free
Voice activation

Detachable Towbar – 13 Pin electrics, and fully coded to car systems

Currently showing 172,619 miles (still in use so will increase), 11 months MOT – service history as below:

1/1/2005 PDI
9/11/2006 20,916 - AVS1 – Lincoln Audi
18/5/2007 40,581 - AVS2 – Lincoln Audi
12/6/2008 59,557 - AVS1 – Lincoln Audi
15/10/2008 67,081 - MOT
29/4/2009 78,553 - MOT
2/5/2009 78,647 - AVS2 – Wrightington Car Centre
2/5/2009 Purchased by myself
8/5/2009 78,874 - Oil Change (long life) (KF)
25/4/2010 89,657 - Oil Change (long life) / Code Read
28/4/10 89,781 - MOT
11/12/2010 98,254 - AVS1
24/4/2011 106,708 - Oil Change (long life) / Code Read
28/4/2011 107,050 - MOT
28/12/2011 117,892 - AVS2
22/4/2012 121,659 - Oil Change (long life) / Code Read
30/4/2012 122,111 - MOT
2/2/2013 136,908 - AVS1
29/4/2013 141,055 - MOT
15/9/2013 145,098 - Oil Change (long life) / Code Read
10/5/2014 157,530 - MOT
5/4/2014 156,287 - AVS2
22/3/2015 168,976 - Oil Change (long life) / Code Read
2/5/2015 171,381 - MOT

The bodywork and interior are in great condition with only minor blemishes as you would expect, I had the front end re-painted a couple of years ago to resolve the usual stone chips with only a few very minor marks on the bodywork.

The "bad" bits:
Intermittent keyless locking - handle microswitch sometimes plays up, unlocks and starts fine.
Intermittent rear parking sensor.
Both are easy fixes via the forum sponsors should they bother you, but I have had no issues living with them

Forum price - £7,995 for which I will include:

S8 Carbon Interior (as pictured)
AMI
Digital TV Tuner
Genuine roof rails

If there isn’t any interest in a few days I will remove the above and post the car on ebay as I need to drive space back for my new D4, yes I bought another 4.2 TDI! Number plate not included in the sale.

The plate was originally on my D2 S8 10 years ago, I sold it because it wasn't suited to the mileage I do. If you are willing to tow a fuel bowser or stop at every third service station then yes they are faster and oh yes they sound better, but for a combination of power vs range I stand by the 4.2 TDI being the best option which is what was written.

I need to get more use from the fuel bowser that you recommended, so i'll have to pass. But best of luck with your sale

How did it go with the sale??

Seen bidding ended up at £5,100, is this is how much you actually sold it for to the winning bidder???
Silly money really if thats what happened

Bidding ended at £5,100, the bidder has been in contact and so long as he doesn't pull out or mess me around then that is what it will sell for. I'm happy because it is more than the trade-in value I was offered against at D4, maybe I could have got more if I waited for the "right buyer" but maybe I'd of waited a long time!

Once the car is gone I will list up the various D3 bits on here, I guess it's not a shock on a forum of A8 owners but the parts seem to have generated more interest than the car
