Default Car History

So we all know what our current steads are but whats your history?

Mine is

Escort Mk2 1600 Ghia ( written off in big smash)
Escort Mk 2 1100 pop plus ( autotested to death )
Escort mk1 1300 GT ( lovely car, wish I still had this one, rally prep'd to decent level, sold it as I was driving like a tw@t )
Zephyr 4 mk3 ( bought because it was KEWL but dog slow, 70mph tops! no better feeling than pulling up outside teh clubs and getting out of a big black winged limo with loads of chrome )
MG BGT - shiny, classic, RUBBISH!!!!
Triumph Vitesse Mk1 2L ( rusty, old mans, quick as chuff 0-100, used almost every day in preference to the MG above, sold as SWMBO was learning and they wouldn't insure her )
Moss Malvern ( herald 1300 based kit car a la Morgan, CURSED!!!! given away to get shut of!)
Fiesta 950cc pop plus ( for SWMBO to learn in )
Austin A40 ( vandalised, written off )
Citroen BX ( waft tastic )
Rover 418 oil burner... ( new job, further away from home than used to, economy important, written off in big smash)
VW Golf ( stop gap whilst above was sorted )
Alfa 155 Twin Spark ( my first car that I converted to LPG, rust in peace )
Saab 9000 ( first decent waft mobile again LPG'd)
Volvo V70 2.5 LPT ( 200K and about to be fleabay'd )
Audi A8!!!!!

Additionally we've owned an MX5, 2 Suzuki Viraras a Volvo V40 2.0 turbo and now a company Astra DERV in SWMBOs name

OVER TO YOU !!!!

Quite a short list only being 18, so thought I would include a futures list aswell.

1999 Audi A6 1.8 T quattro
1997 Audi A8 4.2 quattro Sport
Currently: See Sig.

Cars I have promised myself:

Audi RS 6 C5
Audi RS 2 in blue

I would chose an RS 2 over pretty much any Porsche, Ferrari Aston. Those cars do nothing for me.

My dad had one of them, HTD553K, I loved that car with all the wood and leather.

He sold it to buy a Marina estate as me and my sisters were growing up and it was getting a bit squashed in teh back. in teh estate we used to take turn in the boot bit!

Prolly forget most of mine, but here we go.........

'83 Lada 1200 (slow, sad, but carry 5 easily)
'83 MKII Ford RS2000 (Show and reasonable go)
'84 to '85 no car as bro' left and no music so sold the car (for more than I paid for it) and bought a HiFi system!
'86 Mini 850 (bought from a friends brother - a pile of crap)
'87 Metro 1.3HLE (Great car - friends brother worked for BL in Birmingham so got the Metro Turbo wheels for next to nothing - plus had a Merc central locking and alarm system fitted!!!)
'87 Also got given a Mini 1000 courtesy of the then girl friend.
'88 MKII Astra GTE (iffy digital dash, but great fun to drive)
'89 Nova GTE (12 month lease with the company - little pocket rocket)
'90 Lancia Delta (not an Integrali - got it for nothing!)
'91 Peugeot 405 (comfy - that's it)
'91 Kawazaki ZZR (toured Europe on it - all in black)
'92 MKII Astra SRxI (company car - pretty good fun too)
'94 Peugot 405 Diesel (company car - good on fuel)
'97 Renault Laguna (Comfy - had it lowerd all round by 3 inches plus 17 inch rims - looked wicked)
'00 Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec (honest and reliable - still have it now, waiting for the wife to pass her test)
'04 Kawazaki ZXR600 (wish I never got rid of it....)
'04 VW T2 Camper van (still got - having the chassis welded at the mo')
'08 Audi A8 D2 4.2QS (lost compression so waved bye bye)
'13 Audi A8 D3 4.2QS (things kept breaking so sold it on)
'14 BMW 325Ci (I liked it, wife didn't so it went after a few months
'15 Audi TT 225 Mk1 (loving it)
'15 Focus ST170 (the wife's and she is loving it)

Not many compared to some but fairly average collection I would say.

I've had:

1980 Mk11 Escort.

Started off as a 1100 ended up being a 1760 with RS2000 bits on it. Rotted and rusted in front of my eyes. Great first car though, teaches you car control on wet roundabouts

Replaced with a red 1985 Sierra 2.0 GLSi.

Not bad but started having problems so part ex-ed for a

1987 MkIV Escort 1.4L

The biggest pile of crap I have ever owned. I don't know what possessed me to buy it.
It had to go

1992 Mk3 Golf Gti 8V

Great around corners but a bit underpowered. Loved it

Next was a 1983 Audi 80 Quattro 2.2 Straight 5.

Falling to bits but it was the second best car I've ever owned. The exhaust noise is second only to the 8! Sold it onto a mate and wanted to buy it back as a project car but he'd sold it before I had a chance

After that a 1989 Ford Scorpio 4x4 2.9i

Another car I enjoyed owning but it was a bit thirsty and not very quick.

Then I bought back the Golf and the cam belt snapped at 165k so that was sold on to a mechanic.

Needed a car in a hurry and bought a '98 Passat Estate TDi. Great on fuel but I hated it.

Then the company cars started

'05 Vectra from new. Horrendous
'07 Astra Sri. Still got that. 100 times better than the Vectra but suspect build quality.

And finally

'00 S8. The wife's daily driver and the best car I have ever owned without a doubt.

Steve
