On the Elsa instructions for strut removal, it says to unscrew the air connection, AND NOT UNSCREW THE VALVE. Does this suggest the valve can be unscrewed?

Good luck

Already tried XP mode (having spent an hour doing work-arounds to get it to work on my home edition of windows 7 - yes it DID work - but then asked for a serial number!) but not the others - maybe when I get time.

Gave up on XP years (and years....) ago.

Have tried epoxying the leak this afternoon, will wait until tomorrow before testing to give it plenty of time to cure.

Here's hoping!

p.s. - while I was driving around looking for the epoxy, the warnings cleared and reappeared intermittently - sometimes gone for 10 mins at a time. Wierd.

OK - partial result. I believe I have at least reduced the leak as the system now activates and the front of the car will rise. Still leaking though as a) I can hear it and b) the compressor shuts down through overheating after a bit. Will need to wait until tomorrow to try again to see if it's the same leak or another one. Shouldn't have gloated to the wife.......

Lol.. Typical.. Though maybe another application of sealant would do the job.

Ok - bit the bullet and bought a new damper today. On closer examination, the remaining leak appeared to be INSIDE the old one so not much to do there.

One question - the connector for the inlet valve, at first glance, appears to be unthreaded - I didn't expect this. Obviously, I'll find out tomorrow when I remove the old one but before that - any comments?

Also, the system again seemed to clear the faults albeit temporarily , when driving, usually around the 60-65mph mark. Bizarre.

I was going to say-don't burn that compressor out...mine died and cost me nearly a grand from audi-just for the part, I fitted it myself... (after every after market one that "guaranteed" to fit-didn't!) and I get a decent discount from Audi

Get the new damper on asap lol

Looking at it on ELSAWin, it says to unscrew the pipe going in, being careful not to remove the bit it goes into.

Not a simple process I'll try and get the procedure uploaded.

WOW! Thanks PsYcHe - spent the last 3 hrs messing with virtualbox and XP trying to get my damned Bentley manual working - now I can look at what I NEED to do instead. Cheers!

p.s. Nice to know the Germans can have their non-technical terms occasionally!

The ELSAWin I'm using came with an XP install in a VMWare machine (so you'd just need player which is free), the only thing is that it's in Russian so can be a fiddle sometimes.
