Default getting radio working

so when my car was stolen last year the clowns took the bose amp and cd shuttle along with some other stuff. after getting the car to a standard i am happy with that i can drive it i am now getting bored with not having a radio and everytime i drive the car i try to turn the radio on that does not work.

i still need to source a bose amp and new wiring loom but i am thinking i should upgrade the whole audio system. i would like to get it that i can play mp3's or have some sort of memory card or usb system.navigation and tv will be awesome to have.i dont want to spend to much as i rather use that money on the mechanical things the car needs for now.so would like to know if anyone can help with any info on setups i could go for.would like to keep it standard.
is it possible for me to get the replacement amp and wiring loom and if i upgrade to navigation and tv later will it still be usefull ?

i have the pf single din radio with volume nob on left side if it helps.
here is a pic of what happens when you have the intelligence of a buffoon and cut the wiring harness instead of unpluging it and prying the glovebox open when its unlocked when you can just press the button to open.

Default Bose amp

I know someone with a Bose amp so if interested I can pm you his number. You might want to discuss getting bits of the wiring loom but that might be tricky to source complete.(probably ask the forum sponsor)

I would keep the standard system and get a phatbox in place of the cd changer....this will play mp3s happily.

The radio antenna isn't to hard to sort out....recently did this and I got the necessary cable and adapters from maplins....

I wouldn't try going down the tv route as you will need a double din fascia, which for a PF is virtually impossible to source.

Default Fl double din

If you don't mind the extra work then fl double din that it probably better way to go....the only issue you will have is that the heated seat switches are built in to the climate control module on the fl cars....

I haven't used a phatbox myself, however I have seen people refer to it and it seems to be a big hard drive to hold mp3s, which integrates with the existing system. Google it....

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!
