Default Dash lights and central locking switch

Is it possible to code it with the VAG or to hard wire the dash and cluster so the lights come one with the ignition and somehow get a headlight symbol to show on the dash when the lights are on.i have a PF a8 and my brothers old a4 and i see the FL A8's have it so was wondering if could be done with the pf.

i also noticed the central locking switch near the door handle on the FL's. It is a nice feature to have instead of having to push the door lock knob all the time to lock.while fiddling with my door lock to get the puddle light switch to work i saw that there is a micro switch to control the central locking. is it possible to tap into that harness and have it run to the switch by the door handle?

i would have to get a new door card but i need to anyway as when the car was stolen somehow the person who took it had their dog chew the door card.

My 1998 PF had the locking button and it's shown in the brochure for that era.
Maybe it wasn't on earlier models, I think you said yours was quite early?

Yep mine does not have it either (95/96 car)

You can code the dash lights to come on without lights, i'm sure there was something on hear about it. And the locking of the doors, it deffo can be done. That said i have had limited success with some of the codings with my PF

i bought these and received them on friday. i am not going to be installing them for a while as i am waiting for replacement locks and want to get the windows tinted before i change them as i don't want to remove them once they are in.sorry for poor quality photos it was taken with my phone.

i need a bit of help with the wiring harness as i didn't get one with the one rear door. would a8 parts have one or could i buy the connections i am missing for the lights.

my old door cards do not have the light that flashes when locked, and the lock switch . how would i wire it up to get it to work? is it possible?

i also dont have the red light at the end of the door card and the light in the door handle.would these come on when the door is opened? if so i should be able to wire them into the other puddle light circuit.

so i attempted to install the new door cards this weekend and all went well besides my plan for the central locking switch that didnt work. i tired to wire the switch into the same cable that the micro switch uses as if you bridge certain contacts on the plug it opens and closes the locks.it worked fine aslong as the micro switch isnt plugged in. any ideas how i can get it to work?

i also managed to fix all the micro switches that didn't work. i dont know about the other FL models but my PF locks i can bend the one lock lever and remove the micro switch. i then placed a flat screw driver below the lever and bent the lever outwards a bit more.placed it all together and bend the lock lever back all working.seems like the micro switch isn't a open/closed switch it needs to be tapped by the plastic lever then release and the problem is that if the plastic lever doesn't spring back it keeps the switch depressed.

the lock still in the car

which metal lever to bend to remove the micro switch

front door micr switch before being bent

the micro switch from the rear door after bending the plastic lever upwards

here is the new door cards installed with micro switch now working
