so i figured this one out the hard way. the car recently started getting worse and worse to point where i started worrying that its the pump.so when it was hot i would try prime the pump by turning the ignition on and off listing to pump run but it didn't help.so other night i had a look underneath the bonnet and found a plug that looked dirty and covered in oil so checked connections where good and plugged it back on.that's when the whole plug sort of crumbled and now the car wont start.
figured out that it was the crank sensor.

went to Audi and they wanted stupid amount of money for it so i have been looking around for one which is not easy.
so i got hold of A8 parts and they said they have one but i have been trying since last week to get them to put the order through so i can pay and get it shipped to me but it just seems like no one is replying to my emails since friday.

does any one know where i can get a crank sensor part number 077905381b for 1995 4.2 ABZ. needing it very urgently.

IIRC, Scotlandshire has one more Bank Holiday than Englandshire - an extra day at New Year. I work for a subsidiary of an English company and we have to give up one day at Easter to compensate for the extra day at New Year.

ok figured it out. i had to solder the new harness into the old one. so if this will help anyone else Audi had tagged each wire on the new harness pin 1black, 2red, 3purple. but when i wired it up like that it was incorrect and the car wouldn't start so i took a guess and wired it up like this.new harness 1purple 2red 3black.cars harness:1black 2blue 3grey. all is working now.
