So now have to maintain plans I had already made with the little 'uns

Have a good 'un, and get plenty of pics up

Oh, BTW, has anyone got an AMI to mini-usb cable they wanna flog?

Excellent day. Good to meet everyone. It was a good turnout with plenty of A8's/S8's, couple of A6's, an RS6 and an A7. Loved the noise of Amar's hugely quick RS6. The W12's sounded classily beefy - not too shabby when floored either. Very quick cars.

Loved the interior of MAM's A8 - two tone green leather. Sounds horrible, but looks very, very nice in the flesh. Massive spec on that car.

A lot of pics were taken on the day. I just took a few on my cheapo Tesco mobile, so the quality isn't great. May as well load them on here as there are no others at the moment.

The air-bag demonstration was great. Very distinctive smell when they go off. Puts you off from being in an accident with one of those going off in your face One of the bags that was deployed was in an A8 - the door windows and sunroof were forced outwards momentarily by the pressure of the explosion (air bag deployment) Hopefully someone took a video of the air bag demos - here's a couple of pics I took:

There was a demo of the difference between single glass and the double glazing - the single glass took one decent blow - the double glazing rather more:

Quite a few cars had the air con regassed today - here's mine getting done before they took a dislike to me and smashed the windows and set the air bag off

Look forward to seeing all the pics of the cars.

Got a couple of bits for my A8, and even managed to win a prize on the raffle. Highly recommend the day for the next time round. I did a 310 mile round trip and it was well worth the effort. Fair few people had longer journeys than that. Big thanks to A8 parts for putting on the open day - thanks too for the food which was excellent and plentiful.

Talking G-r-o-u-n-d-h-o-g d-a-y ....

Over a dozen 8's, 600 photos, 3 races that Darren lost miserably to Amar, food for an army and a fantastic day had by all.

Pretty busy, no time to get people 'arranged' for a photo, but this mid day shot gives you a feel for how much 8 hardware turned up....

(Neil misread the memo, turned up in a 7 and parked it right in the way.... Grrrr...)

I picked the right car to go there. I must have unconsciously known I were going to win D2 custom exhaust which fitted nicely in A6 estate once cut in half and there was no way it would fit in S8 .

And also saved lot of fuel costs. Filled up 70l tank last night and these are results:
386 miles done
more then half tank left
remaining distance indicated 335 but was 420 before I got in home town

Average mpg shown 46.1 but if I do the math, let's say half tank 35l used( but it shows there is more then half tank left) which is 7.69 UK gallons make it 50.2mpg. Not bad for 2000kg( dry weight around 1800kg) 4 wheel drive car with 220-225HP.

Unfortunately almost run out of windscreen washer fluid as you can see in the pictures

I got home about an hour ago, Ranj and myself had a great day and would like to thank A8 Parts for the excellent hospitality, the snacks were delicious, I went back for seconds, but I had missed breakie. It was good to meet Karl for the first time who I've spoken to on the phone to a lot but hadn't met in person, I'd met the rest of the A8 Parts team years back but it was good to meet you all again.

As I was having so much fun, I forgot to take many photos, but here are some.

Day started off at Ranj's house, I had forgot he was a two D2 man, and thought he was having a mini S8 when I arrived.

He had just driven back from Central London in his Avus S8 half an hour previous to us departing for Teeside, so I got the driving duty for the way up and about three hours later we arrived at the new unit to be greeted by lots of A8/S8/A7 and some C5 A6s.

A demonstration was done to show how easy single pain glass is to break vs double glazing. Single pain first.

One hit

Smashed

Twin Pain proved much harder to break

Couple of hits

Few more

Then eventually it could be lifted out, but still didn't smash like the single pain.

Airbag demo

Then after clearing away the glass, I decided to get my car up on the ramp for a looksee at my new shiny Milltek race down pipes, and to check on a CV boot.

But it was too low

Neil's A7 looked great, love the Google earth mapping on it. Ian played some of his Michael Jackson albums for me on his B&O and it sounded just as good as last time, I've never heard the songs that clear in my life. I enjoyed my drive of Darren's W12, very wafty and comfortable.

A rare find in the UK - A 3.3 TDi V8 D8, with notably, no sunroof, aux heating and passenger seat memory....

This white S8 is not only rare and visually perfect, but mechanically it drives like its only got 20K on the clock. It's loaded with every option available on its build date apart from a towbar, and drives tight like no other D2 I've ever seen.......

Davids new toy - Almost fully loaded..... Fridge, sunroof, adaptive cruise, ventilated, heated and massage comfort seats all round, RSE, extended leather pack, blinds etc etc.... Oh, and did we mention it sounds gorgous and shifts quite quickly ?..
