Default Chrome bubbling on door rubbing strips.

Long term lurker, and now have a question!

I have a 2009 A8 in black, and the "chrome" inserts on the door rubbing strips are all beginning to bubble to varying degrees. I've tried giving them a wee heat with a hot air gun to see if it would "shrink" the chrome effect film that gives these the shiny appearance. No joy!

Has any on else had this issue, and come up with any kind of remedy, buying 4 new ones is an expensive job once painted. I'm toying with asking about having them stripped and wrapped again somewhere, or even having a go at it myself.

Ideally a practice effort on a spare on is what I need!

Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks,

Iain
