Default is there a way to check genuine mileage on an Audi

ive found a car 6 years old with 8000 miles on
mot checks out
but interior looks 40k miles
so can Audi plug it in to ODIS and check?
or is there another way
cheers all

I would imagine it can be checked with ODIS as the mileage will be stored in more than one place. The cluster and engine ECU would definitely be two of them. It may also be held elsewhere. Not sure if VCDS can do the same

On a 6 year old vehicle, I would consider condition to be more reliable than paperwork. D4 interiors wear miles really well which would make me suspicious and tempted to walk away.

What aspects of the interior indicate 40K miles ?
How many previous owners and can they be contacted to verify ?
Any Dealer network records for warranty items or even an Annual inspection records ?

Even if data is stored in multiple locations, it can be adjusted in multiple locations if somebody knows that game. PCP finance has really increased incidences of this type of thing.

As above, I'd assume clocked if the interior wear is greater than such a low mileage would indicate. Any 'mileage adjuster' that knows what they're doing will know where the actual mileage is saved and amend all values.

You might see some slight variations in individual modules, but not enough to pin down what it's actually done.

I'd be concerned that any servicing it's had will probably have been way beyond the correct intervals - but given the 'low mileage' has it got any stamps in the book? You can guarantee if it's been clocked, it will have been done just before an overdue service.....

An 8k interior should look like new, unless the original owner was seriously overweight and had a tendency to sit on the side bolsters to get in and out!
