Nürburgring with the A8
Hey guys I'm thinking of going to the Nürburgring with my A8 Sport. Is the car build or capable to go on a circuit as such and what precautions should take for the car. Thanks

Your 8 will tell you all about understeer. Apart from that watch out for the food and enjoy the beer

Brake fade will likely be your biggest problem. Its a long track, so pace yourself if you've not done it before
- and the heavy (relatively) TDi will amplify the under steer and front heavy feel of the A8. It will do it quite happily, just don't expect to be setting any world record lap times

have you ever been before?
if not, your car will be fine. its you that might not be take a passenger, instruct them to keep an eye on cars coming up fast (VERY FAST) behind. drop the tyre pressures to 28-30psi, stick it in tiptronic and have a blast. it is a very fast circuit with not many large braking zones, but you will be comfort braking. i took my S8 around the ring and the F1 circuit last year, tagging on to the back of the gran turismo event. car was great. video here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk0zcIR0QXs no heroics, just a steady drive

As above - and make sure you pay for several laps (about 4, if you can), as it'll take you a lap or two to get the hang of it. Also, do as much research as you can ahead of the day. There's plenty available - from lap/turn-by-turn guidance to various PS2/3/4 etc games that can give you some sort of feel for it.
Some car magazines (e.g. Redline) occasionally do discount lap vouchers, some of which are then sold on at sites like eBay. Check your insurance coverage too and - most importantly - don't try to be a hero/formula 1 driver, especially on the 1st couple of laps. |

Thanks for the advices guys. Any steps I need to take to prepare the car itself for the track.. other than a full tank of diesel lol

dont fill the tank, half full is plenty
if you spill diesel on the road and you take down a biker or cause a crash you will be in masses of trouble. same goes for oil or coolant leaks too. basically, your car should be in tip-top condition
