Default Auto lights and wipers defective. Help!

As above, what's the reason they don't work?

If I turn it to auto the Bing pops up as title says, but the lights are on.

What's the main culprit here guys.

VCDS will be your friend here, may be just the sensor though.

If the error comes up it means the sensor isn't transmitting any data or the coding for the module is wrong.

Craig, if you don't have VCDS I'm only in Chelmsford and happy to help out some time if you need it.

A problem with the windscreen sensor behind the rear view mirror perhaps?

Sounds alright to me mate.

I always go down vwauditec but I feel like I'm taking the Mick so yeah if you're free that would be well handy.

It's under the cover infront of the rear view mirror, it's really easy to remove, maybe just a flat bladed screwdriver to prise it out its mount, it might also need a new silicone pad that goes between it and the screen.

This is what the vcds come up with.

What part do I change then? The actual sensor on the screen or the one in the plastic cover?

The sensor in the plastic cover is just the humidity sensor for the screen so it puts demist on without having to think about it

The rain light sensor is the thing that has a slight resemblance to a nurses watch and is black and stuck against the screen with a silicone pad in between.
