Battery drain.
I picked up a battery drain issue over Christmas which I managed to locate to a 20amp fuse in boot using my multimeter.
I've been disconnecting this for the past few weeks and no more flat battery. This is the fuse which The stereo runs off. Do you know if anything else is in this circuit relies on this fuse? If it's only the stereo then I will go back to the audio shop. If there are other appliances running off this do you know where I can get a wiring diagram from? Cheers Rich

That fuse goes directly to the Bose amp on the other side, then it also feeds the antenna module in the passenger-side and then, iirc on to the head unit. There is nothing other than audio systems on it.

Thanks guys. I suspect my aftermarket stereo is the culprit then.
Everything about these cars is bugging lately because it's not straight forward. Off to buy a Honda Civic......

Do you have an aftermarket stereo driving a Bose system?
IIRC there's a wake/sleep signal that the Bose amp receives from the OEM RNS head unit. If that's not being sent correctly your amp may be permanently "live".

to pick up where I left off in the other thread , having removed the alarm but left the 20 amp fuse in have been ok starting the car so left well alone
but now being in england with consequent low temperatures again struggling I have decided to start again ....in case previous problems have damagedthe battery have decided to fit a new one and start again.......hankook 60038 4 year guarantee arriving monday ps can anyone with a working alarm confirm that it works on the 20amp fuse referred to ? it is certainly where my drain occurs ,disconnecting the CD stack , radio or aerial makes no difference Last edited by oldnick; 4th February 2017 at 04:12 PM. |

The alarm is not connected to the 20A Bose fuse - I've stripped that wiring out of mine completely. If memory serves, there is another one in the same location though. Maybe that's the drain rather than the audio one?

...Having spend 24 years driving reliable cars from the land of the rising sun I totally agree....at least the Audi gives me something to think about apart from work at the weekends!

As Clarkson once said: "Buying a car just because its reliable is like marrying someone because they're punctual."
