Wonderful comment on the TV 'round table' earlier this morning as the results were coming in.

Keith Brown, an SNP MSP, commented that it was interesting that West Dunbartonshire, where Faslane is (the Trident submarine base), voted Yes. The implication was, of course, that they voted yes in support of the SNP's anti-nuclear policy.

Er, but Faslane is actually in Argyll & Bute (where I live), who voted almost 60-40 for No!

You'd think that he might know where the place is, as it's one his party's key policies.

The word 'to**er' springs to mind.

I'm surprised at that, when I lived up that way in Holy Loch the locals seemed to me to be pretty strong SNP supporters. The last time I went to Faslane was on a launch, went to fix a submarine.

The Queen was in Glasgow when she formally met Alex Salmond, Scotland's First Minister.
EIIR: "How nice to see you Mr. Salmond."

AS: "Nice to see you Your Majesty. Now, what are we going to call Scotland when we win Independence?
EIIR: "Oh dear, one hasn't considered that yet!"

AS: "How about calling it a 'Kingdom' and then I will be King?
EIIR: "Oh Dear! One doesn't think that is appropriate."

AS: "How about 'Empire' then I can be an Emperor?
EIIR: "Dear! In one's dreams!"

AS: "All right! So how about calling it a 'Principality' and then I can be a Prince?"

EIIR: "Quite Near, Mr. Salmond! -- I think we will let it remain a 'country' and you can carry on as you are."
