D2 FL, 2000 detachable towbar wanted
Hi All,
As part of out long-term plan to return to caravaning (part of the reason for buying a gassed-up A8) we need a towbar. If anyone is selling a detachable towbar or knows a supplier with some old stock please PM me.  So far the prices are prohibitive, taking into account the brass to spend on the car and the fact we have to actually buy a 'van!  No rush, buying a van late Summer 2017 is the plan...  Robert

Current bar manufacturers for the D2 are AutoHak, PFJones and Bosal.
I have an AutoHak one currently on my car which is a horizontal mount detachable one (so the hitch receiver is permanently sticking out below the bumper). The construction is high quality and I'm reasonably happy with it, except it occasionally strikes things thanks to the S8's low suspension (and you'll need to modify one of the exhaust mounts as a 3/8" steel plate occupies one of the same holes). The ultimate in D2 towbars is the Westfalia vertical mount bar - invisible when detached! No longer made, you'll need to talk to the forum sponsors or hope someone reading this thread will sell you theirs! I found one (in Australia (in Melbourne in fact) - think hens teeth) with a bit of luck and patience - obviously not mounted yet! So in England your odds should be higher!

Current mods: solar sun roof, 20mm rear spacers, 15 mm on front, red brembo callipers, 6k headlights, rear view camera, engine remap, alloy dash dial rings, alloy navi rings, tt/phaeton pedal upgrade, (and custom matching foot rest) dension ipod interface & parrot hands free kit (both fully hidden), av input, tv in motion switched thro' PF switch in blanking plug right of steering column, Audi 'quattro' sill covers, repositioned centre console switches, radio clock, .Planned mods: auto-dimming rear view mirror, dash cam (as steamship's), fit the ski hatch, refit philips drl's (or maybe not - nope, definitely not - horrible botch!).
