Well, after my little recce trip on the Wild Atlantic Way, the car was definitely in need of an oil change (just a couple of thousand mile over). After raiding my brothers garage for the appropriate tools, I did the job. Both sump plug and oil filter housing were a bugger to remove, the oil filter housing not being fitted with an o-ring. Everything drained, cleaned and refilled. Time taken about two hours, partly due to over tightened items and leaving it to drain.

Just to confirm, oil plug is a 10mm hex (looks like someone hammered a Torx into mine), a 6mm hex for the oil filter housing drain plug and a 36mm socket for the oil filter housing itself.

£10 for a K&N filter
£25 for 5W30 Total oil (bought in bulk)

All in all, quite pleased with myself.

Good for you. It saves on garage costs and is satisfying too. I've done all my oil changes and, although having to buy a 36mm socket the first time, its saved a few bob especially when you have shopped about for oil and got a good price.
