Default Fuel filler cap retaining screw (not) lost - SOLVED

I've no idea how, but the screw (I'm assuming it is a screw but it may not be!) that holds down the end of the rubber "tail" on the filler cap has gone AWOL from my car.

Does anyone know what sort of fixing it is, how long, diameter, thread, material, grommets/washers etc.. etc. ?

As it seems to go through a soft rubber surround it's not even obvious precisely what direction it would go. I guess a close-up photo of a correctly-sited one would be useful if anyone has the time to do that and post here.

1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

It's a plastic push-in fixing (photo attached). Had to replace my cap recently because the rubber tail snapped. IIRC the plastic fixing came with the new cap, so if your rubber is starting to perish, might be better to buy a new cap.

Having said that, it should be simple to make a new fixing using the right size screw, and a few nuts and washers.

Excellent, thanks for that, problem solved!
Mine is actually still there, I had identified the wrong "orifice" for fixing.

The rubber just pushed back on with "reasonable force" and is still in fairly good condition. Must have been pulled on excessively sometime recently to detach it.
