I have discount codes for ECP and Halfords which make batteries a LOT cheaper than RRP. If you know someone local to you who works in a vaguely automotive field (mechanic, dealer employee, college staff at a tech college etc) then Halfords will happily provide you with a trade card.

I bought a battery for the S8 and it took the price down from £119 to £95.99, so 20% discount. That was for a Yuasa Silver

If you post your PR codes, assuming you don't have Etka access yourself, someone can check what the capacity of your battery should be so at least you know if you're getting the right one. Often if you rely on web site reg number look ups they will tell you what physically fits that they have in stock, but often the capacity isn't as high as the OEM.

From what I can see in Etka there's 2 main options:

J1U/J3E (BEM next to it?) = 95Ah/450A
J0Z/J3F (BEM again) = 110Ah/520A

Neil - are the battery management modules really almost £450 new?!

It is a different shape to our existing modules, but the top left mounting is in the same location so I hope there's no complications with fitting.

One thing I noticed from your VCDS scan is that the Shop# is different on your BMM module compared to the majority of your other modules. So maybe the previous owner had problems and had it changed.
That's a billy bargain!! That's the current part number revision listed in Etka. RRP is £445

I should probably caveat my enthusiasm by adding that it appears the ebay part dates from 2004, which given the hardware part number is given separately to the actual part number may mean this is as old as the one you have....

You would need to potentially look for the part number quoted in my attachment above to see if you can find a more recent revision that might be more reliable.

There's a couple of hits on ebay but they're around £100

The date on my BMM is 5th September 2003, that one is newer but will it have the duff firmware which gives issues with the battery meter I wonder. Feedback from the seller is not great, lots of poor despatch times and constant chasing with missing deliveries.

Well I didnt buy that BMC, seems the auction has now ended.

Last night the car was fine again, nothing has been changed yet and the car is not getting much use. Dropped relative at work this morning, and will collect lunchtime today and that all the D3 will do today. Be interesting to see tomorrow morning.

Still in Hertfordshire right now, miles away from home.

That's a pity. It ended within an hour of posting here. Others are £100 +
