Got a reply from Bitmain today.

"Thank you for contacting us. If you have not already done so please try restarting the miner 2 - 3 times. That sometimes solves the issue.

If it is not solved:

Please try these three methods to reset your machine: https://support.bitmain.com/hc/en-us...s/115003595387

Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns."

I had restarted and turned it on and off many times already which did not change anything so did a reset from web interface not expecting much but to a great surprise to me it now seems to be working as it should. Now running in normal mode, 54TH/s 2150W

That's great

Sounds like they might have a firmware bug. Hopefully it won't happen too often.

I didn't know they'd switched to variable PSUs; that is interesting. I can certainly see how that could help improve efficiency.

Turbo mode 57TH/s @2450W now. A bit short of maximum 62 but there is no exact number for Turbo mode, Bitmain just say 53-62TH/s.

Low power mode consumption has gone down as well 44TH/s @1620W

Even if I haven't any crypto currencies, I am happy for all of you who do.
Bitcoin has again made an unbelievable large jump higher, the past week

My S17 53TH/s Pro has been on ebay for a couple of weeks now @£2995 with best offer option. Got a bit tired of low ball offers so set auto decline @£2.5k. Overall I have had offers £1000-2450 through ebay best offer facility and the one of the lowest bidders after he ran out of 3 possibilities to offer and several exchanges of communication through ebay messaging has come up to £2.6k cash on collection tomorrow 19/05/2019 which I do find quite tempting. I said I will have to think overnight. Also got it listed on offer when it was £1 ebay max final fee so good saving there as well compared to regular 10%.

What sort of profit would that be, around £300-£400ish? I think I'd probably be tempted too. Although, given that the S17s appear to be sold out right now I'd probably hold out for a slightly higher offer. It's quite likely that BTC is on the verge of another bull-run too, which would drive up profitability and demand.

Well it cost me £2010, he's paying cash on collection and only £1 ebay fees so it would be close to £600

Could by another lowly D2 for that.

At £600 it's probably worth it, depending on how profitable it is right now and how soon you can replace it. That BTC bull-run seems to be materialising today though. I see we've just pushed through $8K quite strongly again. Bit of a gamble really but if BTC's price remains bullish I suspect you'll get better offers.

S17 Pro has gone to a new home.

Almost £600 profit, used it for just under 3 weeks in which it probably earned about £250 while costing about £100 in electricity so not a bad return of investment.

Now the question is do I wait for them to come on sale again from Bitmain or should I just buy 1 that's already available a bit more expensive but still cheaper than I sold mine for. Then wait for next promotion on ebay with capped low final value fees and put it on ebay again.
